@googleyt2622
@googleyt2622 2 жыл бұрын
Mixing money with family is inevitable and it naturally involves teenagers in many cases. Life is full of challenges and usually those challenges are connected to matters involving money in one way or another. I would say that you have a very valid point to make and I would only modify it by saying this: If they can't afford it but can live without it then they should not buy it in the first place. If they are a good person then they will choose to live without it rather than steal it. If you choose to pay for it with any notion that you aren't actually the one who is buying it, then you are a fool and you are making them a victim of your bad decision.

@@MoNehNeh17 You do not go into financial DEALS with family. It's a recipe for disaster. If anyone from my family asks for help, I'd only agree to give them money as a gift, and that would be whatever I can afford. I would never loan family money because if they are not paying, that's a ruined relationship right there. And heck, it might not even be financial deals. It could be something like staying at your house. If you say yes to that, then be willing to accept if they overstay because kicking out a family member from your house who doesn't contribute anything is also a ruined relationship. If you value them and the relationship you have with them, DO NOT go into these sort of deals with them. Something as stupid as a phone bill can be the end of a bond with a family member.

She's just young and dumb , We've all been there maybe not with the phone issue like her but yeah. She'll learn eventually we all have , I was probably 16 almost 17 when I started working. I worked for a family friends company making around $700-800 every 2 weeks , I had to learn the hard way you have to save and not burn through money and only buy what's important or what you'll use or need. I even went shopping with my grandmother and bought her groceries for her. I learned how to have responsibility , She will too some day as long as she has someone to help her learn that.

The unfortunate part is that she doesn’t know these people or her son’s half sister. She took a chance and it bit her in the butt. Even though the girl is young, she’s an adult. She does this in any financial situation, there would be loads of repercussions: late fees, interests rates, eviction/disconnect notices, lawsuits, etc. Got to the point where it now became a lawsuit.

@@Nevaeh1 I had that same convo with my family when I left my husband, he never paid and I got tired of tracking him down. He never signed over legally he just wasn’t involved. My family always said my son deserves that money, it’s not about us adults. While I understood their point of view, I worked hard to make sure my son had everything he needed and wanted on my own. I think I was a happier and healthier parent bc I didn’t have the stress of court and tracking him down and fighting over money he wouldn’t pay even if the court told him to. My son is 13 now and his dad pops up around birthdays and holidays to send a gift but that’s it, he actually just asked me this month what does our son want for his birthday. I had to tell him we have plenty of time bc his birthday isn’t until may….he thought it was in March, so that shows how much he even knows about his own kid. My son has formed his own opinions about his father based on their relationship or lack there of, I haven’t told him stories of what we went thru or the split, I’ve told him obviously the good stories of us meeting, married, him being born and stuff but I don’t dirty his vision of his dad. I don’t think the money would change that opinion either, and I don’t think it would’ve changed his life because he’s always been well taken care of. Even when I struggled I never let it affect him. Thankfully now I have a good savings and feel secure and safe. A part of me does wish I forced child support just so he had to think of him every month he saw that money leave his account…..but forcing someone to pay won’t make them be a father. It’s such a tough call and I think each parent needs to do what’s best for their kid.

The Defendant is a young adult but an adult. She should have a job to sustain herself. She wants a phone then buy it and get your own plan and pay your own bill. When my children were too young to get jobs they did odd and end things to earn money like helping people move, cut grass, cutting hair, braiding hair. I purchased their first phones and paid their bills because THEY EARNED THEM. Once they got old enough to work(which is 16)they purchased whatever phone they wished. There’s multiple sides to every story. This was my case (Jada Woodall) & it was filmed almost 10 years ago. Keep in mind that on court shows, my case for example, they did take the phone on camera & said I owed her 300+, but the moment we stepped off camera I was handed back the phone PLUS given money to be on the show. Not that it needed to be explain, but y’all have a good day 🥰

This is what I don't like about The Peoples Court. There's a fund set up to pay both sides. The judgement if any is taken from that and given to the winning litigant and the remainder is divided equally between both litigants. You know that win or lose, you were still getting paid and thus you lost nothing. That teaches nothing about responsibility or consequences.
