I’m buying a range hood for our new remodeled house, my husband, 40+ yr. ready to retire carpenter,states that range hoods are all industry standard for sizes. Good to know for a “go-for”. Outside vented. Something I wanted in the other house for 33 years

I like the installation of the overhead Range Marty. Another use for the screwdriver set is pulling apart fishing reels and also Carbies on that special car or motorbike

Benchmade is a quality knife. I always send in for the free maintenance/sharpening, and turn time isn’t that bad especially since you’re in the NW, as well. They’re in Oregon City, Oregon.

I switched from Kershaw many years ago because they wouldn’t stay in my pocket. Most of the time the clips bent or broke off from getting caught on things like seatbelts. After carrying Case knives for a while I decided to finally break down and buy that exact Benchmade Bugout. It is such a good knife. I love the deep carry pocket clip and it keeps an edge really well. I noticed you using it a few videos ago Marty! I told my wife, “We have the same knife!” She wasn’t as excited as I was though. Lol

Martin, love how you sealed that hood vent with the aluminum tape! Most people don’t even think of that especially when venting directly through the wall. Then wonder where all the cold draft is coming from…
@chrlsraines Жыл бұрын
Also I would ALWAYS only vent directly through the wall if my range was on an exterior wall. The ONLY time I would vent through the ceiling is if the range was on an interior wall, if the range is in an island I would down vent it but again that’s the worst option of all… I wouldn’t waste the island counter space w a range to begin with.

@dropshot1967 Жыл бұрын
Right above the kitchen stove is the ideal place for early detection of smoke and fire. The kitchen stove is one of the main causes of house fires. But with the high sealing you guys have, it will work almost just as good for the woodstove.

Having flashbacks to when I was venting our microwave oven vent to the outside. I drilled into the 220 range feed wire and knocked out the power to the house. Hands were numb for hours afterwards. Black and Decker cordless drill survived to die another day. Martin please be careful you are important to your family.

Having that smoke detector there will force you to use the exhaust fan. That will keep your kitchen much cleaner. It will reduce the grease buildup over the years. Alan
@salley82-vr6ce Жыл бұрын
My dad installed a new kitchen fan and it was so strong it pulled the smoke from the fire place.
@neiltheobald205 Жыл бұрын
You, wanna replace the smoke detector , for a rapid rise sensor, they dont go off when you have smoke from your cooking, but if there was a fire it would sense the sharp increase in temperature and sound then. Well thats how we configure fire alarm systems, here in the UK
@chrlsraines Жыл бұрын
I’m a Kershaw man also. Wouldn’t mind having a bench made or spyderco but they are so ridiculously expensive.

The range hood looks fantastic, what a professional mount job...😂 Either knife is a great product, I've had both makes for many years. I'll definitely look into the cell phone repair kit though, may come in handy for eyeglass repair and rifle optics...😅 Love what ya'll are doing 😊
@andrewmccune3443 Жыл бұрын
And don't forget that the fan should be on any time you're cooking to prevent any accumulation of carbon monoxide produced by the gas range
@nigelman9506 Жыл бұрын
Martin, did you fit a fire rated duct in the wall between the extractor fan and the outside grill ? and you can change the smoke detector to a Photoelectric detector which is more suited for kitchens

@debradiane3929 Жыл бұрын
Love you guys! Using an extension cord to hardwire your hood is NOT a good idea. Please, please change that wire to #14 Romex with ground and hardwire it directly into your outlet. Using an extension cord wire is asking for a fire, because the wire is too small, and the casing around the wire isn't mean to go through cabinets or walls. It will heat up. That is why it is a violation of code to use extension cord for any permanent capacity. It is meant for temporary use only.
@debradiane3929 Жыл бұрын
Also, if it did create a fire, your insurance company would not cover the damage. Big bummer.
