In this video we take a look at a unique airfield, Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome and the latest release from Burning Blue Design. It's another beauty packed with character and detail.

Used to live up the road from Stow Maries and go to a lot of there fly-ins, well worth the visit. I think Burning Blue Designs have done a great job with this scenery. There seems to be a glitch with the crowdline fence in the video with it disappearing i noticed but i am sure Burning Blue will sort.

Many thanks! The fence disappearing is something that happens in their scenery. I suspect it’s down to optimising performance and you only really notice it of you run around in the drone as I do to make the videos lol

Iconic airport that I was waiting since long time. Well done BBD!

I am based at Stow Maries and fly both Tiger Moth and Auster from there. I have to say the quality of the scenery and the attention to detail is superb - really well done. It's about as close you can get to the real thing from a sim. It's a shame the take-off wasn't on runway 20 (not 19!) as that could have demonstrated the right turn noise abatement dog-leg required after departure. It has to be said that if the flight was made as shown - pretty much due south initially from Stow Maries and then west from Hadleigh - it would take one immediately into Southend's CTA requiring radio contact and mandatory radar control. Anyone contemplating making the flight for real should be aware! I've made a few detailed comments below: ICAO code EGZK? As far as I'm aware, Stow Maries has no ICAO code. I applied for one a few years ago and the application was rejected. The runway surface is quite bumpy, not at all like in the sim. The "modern housing estate" mentioned at Hullbridge is a static caravan park. The pronunciation of Rayleigh is absolutely correct - I live there! I'm glad the pilot eventually picked up on the persistent left slip needle - it was annoying me. In reality, it would have been a most uncomfortable flight up to that point - a constant sideslip with the slipstream in the pilot's face. A shame the sim doesn't replicate that. Overall, a great job. Very impressive. Terry

Hello DoW. Another superb vid. Now I need the Tiger Moth as well as Stow Maries. To my shame I'd never even heard of it this aerodrome before. But yes, by Victor I suspect you're referring to the Vulcan. I've had it for two days and I have fallen in love with the thing. As you have wisely pointed out before, what you sim-fly and where is much about feeling/emotion as it about accuracy and fidelity. I grew up in the last half of the Cold War and the V-bombers were part of my childhood. Oh and I'm going to join the Discord. You sound like a great bunch. Ta once more for stooging around Essex in the sunshine. It's warmed my heart (if not my house).

Absolutely, you do need the Tiger Moth! I can promise you won't regret it. It's such an awesome plane in the sim. She's my clear favourite out of all the planes in my hangar. In fact, my favourite plane in any sim, ever. Haven't got Stow Maries myself but it looks gorgeous.

@@Dreamsofwings I understand. I wasn't being "that guy". As both the FAA and CAA maintain, aviate roughly, vaguely navigate and the communicate bit is done by telepathy. This is why it remains safest form of travel.

Yes in my opinion as colours is better thr 4 seasons of Habashi. REX Accuseason is colourful but not really true at least compared to where I am flying for real (the swiss Alps ).
