It’s because the zombie pathing has changed and they now see jumping down on a base as a viable path, they’re attempting to path to the second floor and jump onto the top of his base. He has to build his base taller than his house or enough blocks away from his house that the zombies don’t think they can jump to it.

I've watched them run past my three tall 1x1 cobble tower, tear through three iron doors, and walk through a dozen or so barbed wire fences along the top of a five block high wall three blocks away just to jump down on me. They could have torn down my newb tower in a tiny fraction of the time. They like the high ground in this build : )

There is polymer everywhere in every poi. They walk past most of it while looting. The microwaves, tv's, plain brown boxes, garbage piles, etc. can have it.

Once the horde decides to go after Simon, his base will crumble real quick. They will chew out the base and it will fall and he will run into his own traps and die. It's not an if, it's a when. But lets be honest, Simon will die to a random mob while out doing a mission or looting before the horde night gets him.

The new update changed the zombie pathing, they now see jumping down on a base as a viable path. They’re attempting to path to Appsro’s second floor and jump down on his base. He’ll have to move his base far enough away that the zombies don’t see jumping as an option. Building his base taller may also work. You can now build hoard bases that are AFK by building two structures next to each other that are just close enough that the zombies try to jump, but far enough that they can’t make it and fall instead. It puts them in a loop and they won’t beat on the structure you’re standing on.

@@TraumKillerI’m not sure, but I noticed the change immediately after the update, the zombies started doing weird stuff with pathing. Typically they just beat at the base of what you’re standing on, but now they will climb any nearby structures in an attempt to jump to you. Also, it doesn’t seem like “destroy everything” mode is working, usually after a certain amount of damage taken in a fall they stop looping and start beating on your structure. However I’ve been able to keep them in a constant loop all hoard.

They're going to end up destroying Appros's whole house. The zombies pathing makes them think it's easier to break some stuff there, then jump onto where he is. If he doesn't change where his supplies and crafting stuff is, he's going to lose it all. I know he's saying it's safe upstairs, but if the whole house falls it's all gone anyway. Nice work on Simon's part getting those bars above him in time, for the birds. It's interesting that the molotov's seem like they burn blocks now, if that's what happened to Neeb's bridge. He'd better reinforce down below, they were probably hammering on his house.

Actually his molotovs were burning some of the wood structure supports. Someone also mentioned the way he has his cobblestone stairs set up the zombies were chewing at them. So with all that combination the blocks were taking damage from both sides. In short it was a combination of not upgrading all the structures properly and just passive damage causing structural integrity failure and yeah... Neebs needs to rebuild his bridge with everything cobblestone or better. He needs to avoid using wood altogether. Especially since it doesn't have a good structural integrity to start with and is weak against fire. If he upgraded it all to cobblestone or greater it wouldn't have collapsed like it did.

appsro normally i don't like giving advice in games cause I like to watch what happens. but just this once ill help a little bit the reason the zombies are attacking your house and not going to the base. the zombies don't have a clear path to get to you on your horde base. you have the stairs covered with spikes and the cage is completely enclosed. the zombies don't see a path so they are going to destroy a path to get to you. basically just make a clear path to get to you and they will stop attacking the house like neebs did with his stairs till he threw Molotov's at wood lol. good luck

Appsro is the better player by a mile. neebs plays the most cautiously but he clearly plays builder in most of their group play so combat isn't his strongest point. simon is the group gopher and the least gamer of the group, he's clearly used to having someone with him during combat or he wouldn't be running around solely with the sledgehammer while constantly encumbered. Dora has a good chance, he plays a scout role so he's used to playing solo and being in combat. he carries his own backup with that DP. but that DP isn't much good at telling him he's being overrun . one day he'll dig for treasure and get buried by a horde. appsro is getting taken down by inattention. he's got tunnel vision. he gets over confident in what's in front of him and ignores the horde behind him. but he's still the most flexible player. simon's out first, neebs and dora are upto luck of the draw. appsro wins with two lives left if things escalate soon. one life left if neebs and dora get more perks under them to bridge the gap in player skill.

Hey Neebs you can add blocks that are called "center pole" between your base and the stairs that go up to your base. The Z's will try to jump to the center pole block and miss, most will fall down to your spikes. They are terrible at jumping. you can put 3 rows of Center pole blocks.

Appsro, here's an answer for ya: If you have a high heat and forge going on zombies can attack your base even when you're away. There is what's called a heat map, the higher the heat output the greater the attraction. Hope this helps, cheers!

All Neebs needs to do is just make his stairs solid, not on pillars, and try to make it the strongest material he can, he’s got a great idea with the trap door, also might be something to try to get iron spikes as well

They just don't understand structural integrity. Knowing they don't understand it, they should just make their stuff out of all the same material. The pitfall here was the Needs thought it was sufficient to just have a cobblestone walkway with wood filler, but included jump steps as part of his filtering strategy. When the zombies inevitably attacked the top cobblestone block in front of them and broke that block, the wood structure underneath wasn't enough to hold it up anymore.

Appsro, put down a land claim block (if you haven't, can't remember), and if you hold E on your workbench and forge, you can pick them up and move them as well. Even with campfires, as long as they're within the claim blocks range. 😄

I always keep my stacks of wood/metal/rock in my first three slots because I'm always using them. If I'm carrying more than 6k of something it needs to be thrown in the forge or mixer. Now that I can lock my first inventory row I don't have to worry about those materials or my max ammo moving to the box, which before was just metal because I always have tons of metal. So I hit 6000 metal, I half it, toss it in the forge, light it up and go about questing.

I think the zombies are avoiding his place most of the time because the zombies go to the player that has the easier direct path. His base is far enough away from his house that they don't find a path through there to him, and it's high enough without that path for them to not concentrate on attacking the base of his platform.
