"Burning Magnesium (Synthesis Demo)"

This synthesis reaction involves the burning of magnesium to create magnesium oxide. Be sure to allow the magnesium oxide (a white powder) to drop onto the watch glass - - do NOT drop the burning magnesium onto the watch glass or you risk breakage of the glass! CAUTION: DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE MAGNESIUM AS IT BURNS.
