The engine sounded perfect but why was the driver blipping the throttle at the end, it's unnecessary and not particularly good for a diesel engine, leave alone the clutch packs within the gearbox.

The clutch for whatever gear the driver had selected would have been locked in and the torque converter lockup clutch wouldn't be engaged at that rpm or vehicle speed. Also the Perkins built Allison X300 used in the Warrior is rated for a vehicle weight equivalent to the Warrior plus the additional armour developed during Desert Storm.

@@rayjennings3637 Why was he blipping the throttle… because it’s not his, he probably doesn’t know or care if blipping the throttle is good or bad for the engine or any other part of the vehicle, if he breaks it it will get rebuilt , if he doesn’t break it it will get rebuilt (technicians have to learn on something) and then one day it will get rebuilt and end up at the firing range as a static target! 🤷‍♂️ This is not a dig at our service personnel, it is pretty much a fact of life, most people don’t show a company vehicle very much respect at all!

You should joke. One of our RE Field Squadrons was given the task of destroying a WW2 Bunker by the 18th Green at Troon. Those things were made by pouring shuttered concrete walls, and casting a flat lid lifted on by crane. The lift rings have usually rusted by now, so you blow it off with explosives planted so it'll flip the way you want. Definite instructions not to put it on the Green!. Now man proposes, God disposes, and up she went, vertically about to fall as desired. And then the wind caught it - they now have the Bunker Bunker where it landed.

Besides the fact that it’s no a tank, I may have been impressed if the towing vehicle was on the same grass and mud he’s on metal trackway. I’ve drive my 40 Tonne Class 1 on that trackway and it has excellent traction a weight distribution so this wasn’t much of a challenge providing the vehicle had enough horsepower.

The "prepared road bed" has been laid to prevent damage to the turf. That is why the vehicle commander ensured the tracked vehicle stayed on it.

It would have made zero difference to that Warrior. They stayed on the trackway to save the grass from getting churned up, which was sensible, but those things have amazing traction and they float over surprisingly soggy ground.
