It was doomed by being a late-era Saturn release in Japan and one of the last releases in the USA, sadly.

It was a technical marvel on the Sega Saturn, and the prototype release gives some interesting details on it's development. (Much like Sonic games, it seems like a lot of what made Burning Rangers special was added in late-stage development.)
