As a young man in the Bahamas in highschool (during the 1990's), I learned the truth about Christopher Columbus through Burning Spear's song. When all of my history books called Christopher Columbus a hero, Burning Spear called him a "damn blasted liar!". I admire the courage it took to make such a record, when at the time, many would consider it to be sacrilegious to do so. I have been a fan ever since!

From what i overstand during the lean years when Winston wasn't making much money from his craft he was living in his home parish of St. Ann and growing his own food and herbs. I think he left that out during this interview.

Garnet silk had powerful insight where the music was concerned . I heard that he told Tony Rebel that the money means nothing to him ....the MESSAGE was more important. That is where the fall out began between them. Joseph Culture , Burning Spare , Bob marley , Peter toch , The Heptones .....Every foundation Roots Artists from that Era knew their responsibility and was steadfast on that . Money was secondary to their quest . Even the Black American soul artists cried to the people were heard. At that time the love and oness vibration was so powerful and effective . Music is a way to entertain .......but it's more powerful and potent when it teaches . BLESS UP !!! all foundation artists . We heard the message . " One Jamaican Universal Rasta love " Our slogan dat !!!

We want a real documentary about Burning Spear! He is not smaller as Bob was! To me, Winston was a much better singer as Bob. Winston is an original man. I still listen his songs almost every day. And I'm a white man. Saw him 2001 or 2002 live in Austria. I would pay to see that concert again.

Nice interview, but you can't be a good but selfish man ,that owns a studio. You CAN be a competent but selfish man though.

This is what I don't overstand with what Spear is saying either. How is Dodd good when he wasn't sharing the proceeds with the artists? Does "a good man" only mean that he wasn't raping and murdering people? I would think being a greedy, selfish man would disqualify one from being a good man, especially while his artists were suffering. I've heard so many artists speak of Dodd's unwillingness to pay. Yes, he was good at recognizing and producing talent; but, don't try to tell me he was a good man!
