7:45 This is something very few people know, but that cat is actually expressing behaviors of too many margaritas. Edit: I had to come back to add that I was just looking up scientific names for specific wild cats and the Sand [dune] Cat is called felis margarita. What are the odds.

I am wondering what I can suggest to clients if they 'catch their cat/dog in the act' of urinating/defecating in the wrong area?

Start teaching them what you want them to do instead. You can say no and bring them outside, then really get heavy on the positive reinforcement for going to the bathroom successfully outside.

Hey there. I teach the college level Veterinary Technician Program. The students graduate with a two year diploma in Veterinary Technology. They then go on to become Registered Veterinary Technicians.

Hey, cat lovers! Here's my latest discovery: if I want to gain a cat's trust, blinking slowly at it (as if I'm falling asleep) helps a great deal. It senses that I'm not alert, which means that I'm not in attack/defense mode. Try it out if you haven't :) Thanks for a nice presentation!

Cats close their eyes when very relaxed and happybor "smileing" you are comunicateing this kind of State, Is not Just merely "non threat" i does It since childhood becouse i comunicate with animals lerning and imitateing their language. You want to shoo himaway, blow at his face. Rub chick to chick to emphatize your affection... Those are the basics. Well donne btw, you are on a good path now throw away antropocentrical behaviouristic belief and take a good amount of patience and humilty

Oh Dear, you lost me completely as soon as you suggested using a Squirt Bottle as a means of addressing unwanted behaviour. It really is such a shame, as so much of the content here is fantastic. Please do look into some up to date peer reviewed empirical research on addressing unwanted feline behaviour. These tools not only don’t work (the cat will just wait until you are not around to engage in the behaviour which has been shown again and again in studies), but they also work towards eroding a positive relationship with the cat. The cat no longer sees the caregiver as being consistently safe. In addition this type of approach can also encourage cats who do not receive enough enrichment to engage in further unwanted behaviours in order to seek attention from the caregiver. Please please change this. It is not advice that should be given to any pet owner.
