I agree, at 66 yrs old I’m hosting Christmas 🎄 because no one has a big house & they are all working! I have fibromyalgia etc.: & today had awful flare up & headache & anxiety! This is my last Christmas 🎄 hosting as I’m very tired. Merry Christmas too everyone 🇬🇧🇫🇷♥️🌹

That's a tough one. Perhaps, after the festive period has subsided, you could tell your guests that it's just too much for you now to host because it made you ill with stress. But you could offer them the use of your house so that they can host and have everyone together. That includes preparing the house, cleaning, washing and putting up decs for you and doing the shopping. Basically they can all come if they do it all and you are just a guest at the feast. Good luck for tomorrow.

Bravo well said every word 👏👏👏! Society has a lot to do with all the hype and pressure connected with Christmas. As you mentioned outside decorations have become a big thing, the pre lit trees even Christmas jumpers are a recent requirement etc etc, whic if you havent got are you a bad mum, a ba humbug or just down right mean. We should be brave and do our own thing at what ever age we are. I have no tree up this year due to illness and i was in a bit of a quandry about it but now i feel at peace with myself and the whole Christmas season. On the topic of presents i have older children and about 10 years ago we set a budget and exchange token gifts and it really works for my family. Hope everyone has a lovely time what ever you do, wherever are and enjoy the people around you! Merry Christmas. 🎄🎄🎄🍍

I agree with everything you’ve said. My girls are 47 and 49 - we didn’t have a lot of money when they were young, but we always had lovely Christmas without all the hype that happens nowadays. I’ve been slowly cutting down on decorations over the past few years (it was getting me down having to sort them out and packing them away). I’m now trying to convince my family about not doing presents or cutting it down to something small, but they’re finding it hard. Your video helped me knowing that I’m not on my own thinking this way. Thank you.😊

@@diannegoddard3639 I think that it would be good if we all got to a point where we were all comfortable doing what we felt was right. Part of that is going through the journey of finding out what you love about Christmas and what no longer brings you joy….but I guess this could change from year to year. Towards the end of December I decided that I would be better to prepare for Christmas time throughout the year and I identified which parts I wanted to keep and which parts I wanted to let go. I need to do a video on this as it’s been super helpful for me x

Thanks for this video. I think it will help a lot of people. I don't bother with December breakfasts or Xmas eve boxes. We don't do presents really for anyone apart from the kids. We just do token gifts for family members. We're both working full time, doing youtube, busy with daily life stuff and have 3 kids to buy for anyway and all the school Xmas stuff. I love decorating, but we have toned it down this year x

I agree with all you say, although I love my little tree 😊 I keep trying to cut down each year and it's working. As you say, if people need something they'll usually buy it themselves.

What a shock when you read out my comment. I just hope it's helpful to others. You're a breath of fresh air reminding us all we shouldn't put pressure on ourselves over Christmas time. It should be about sharing, not spending a fortune& not being influenced by media. Wishing you& your family a wonder Christmas x

Over the years we have scaled back decorating the house. We just have the tree & mantelpiece decor now - it’s pretty and I enjoy doing it. I only write a handful of Xmas cards too. Think the presents for family will be scaled back further next Xmas and I’ll just buy gifts for my 2 little grandchildren 😊

I agree. I could have happily had a little table top tree. But in my forties with a four year old so I did cave into the big tree. Smaller a easier Christmas 🎄 tradition for me too.

It’s a difficult one to manage isn’t it but I do think that if we give it some thought we can tailor it to what we want to do….a bit late for this year though! You have a good Christmas xx

I think women take the brunt of Christmas hassle and stress. And when we get a bit older we need less of it. I'm sat here typing this knowing I still haven't put the vacuum round, or finished decluttering and cleaning the dining table! And do you know what? I don't even really care if I do it. Will have to do the table, but it could be tomorrow. We only have the 2 of us and my 90 year old mum to worry about anyway. I have 2 trees up, but they are half the size of yours and stand on table and sideboard respectively. The cat can't get into the dining room so that's safe. The sitting room tree is dressed in shatterproof balls and metal or felt decorations. No tinsel. She's adorable but can't resist the trees. Yesterday I was trying to put decs on a small table tree on the landing. As fast as I put them on one side she took them off the other so I took them all off. It has pretty lights on it. That will do. Still have 4 gifts to wrap. But at least by going to the village hall just now I have managed to delivery my cards without the effort of trudging round the lanes. It's the little wins. We have drastically cut down on gifts this year. Much of what we have to open will be edible. The rest is likely to be readable or a jigsaw. We love those. We have to stop feeling guilty of Christmas.

It's early evening on the 23rd here, and I just got home from a late lunch with my sister and my niece. We had hotpot, and we agreed to do it again next year, same day. We ordered WAY too much food, but my sister and I had only done the All You Can Eat option before and we weren't tuned into the portion size for the single order option. However, we got to bring home what we didn't finish, so my niece and I have a meal each for tomorrow. Plus, her lizard got dibs on the chrysanthemum stems we didn't finish. It was a huge win, all round.
