BURT MYERS WINS SEASON OPENING 200 LAP MODIFIED RACE AT BOWMAN GRAY RACING - 4-22-23

Tim Brown was the fastest car in qualifying and started from the pole but Burt Myers came out the winner of the Hayes Jewelers 200 season opening Modified Race at Bowman Gray Stadium on 4-22-23. This was an action packed race with a lot of cautions and some good battles trying to get the lead from Tim Brown. Danny Bohn gave Brown a shot around turns 1 and 2 and Brown gave Bohn the same bumper tag going into 3. Myers pounced, passing the two and never looking back.

I kinda like seeing modifieds running on those narrower tires.. A lot harder to get the car back in shape if they push it too hard... makes it very action packed (especially in tight quarters like Bowman)! edit: cool looking trophy!

Wached this live on flo racing, actually a cool track. I had only heard about the negative rep this place has but the racing actually impressed me, very unique narrow track. Very much like riverhead speedway in new york except even tougher to pass. Looks like a crazy environment to race in too.

Funny, the modifieds have little problem passing at similar size tracks like Seekonk, Star, Monadnock, Barre, White Mountain, Claremont.

There was no problem passing. Tim, Danny and Burt are three of the best mod drivers here or anywhere. They know to win, you have to be there at the end. The outside sucks right now because of the new pavement, but it’ll get better again and the outside will be a little better for the starts.

I remember Bowman Gray Stadium on, I think it was Discovery Channel, and all the craziness on the track. Look how full the stands are. I think NASCAR should come and tell them how to run a race so that everyone is equal. Watch the stands empty out-

I’ve followed racing for 40 years and this number 5 car was killin me. Caution comes out, he’s 3rd, restarts on the inside 5th. Caution comes out, he’s 2nd, restarts inside at 3rd. Caution comes out, he’s 3rd, restarts 5th. Can somebody please help me with this? Only thing I could come up with, was he had the option in where to restart and wanted the inside, but he was 3rd, twice and restarted 5th. So I’m at a loss. Unless the author edited cautions and the restarts were from other cautions…I don’t know, but after restarting 5th after the caution, he fell back to 10th. 🤦🏻‍♂️ That’s at midway through the video. See at the end where he finishes. He has a good handling car, but he restarts are killing him. We’ll see.

Listen I love Bowman Gray but the modified division is sooooo awful, this race was about 2 hours of nothing, great finish but just a boring race

Hub racing No outside groove. You need Ritchie Evans kinda talent to run that place. If you can get the car to run the outside you could dominate that place. No fun just watching a guy run the hub holding everyone up.

First race on brand new pavement. Give it a few weeks and it should start to come around.
