Charo is incredible in so many ways. Beautiful, sexy, funny as Hell, a great dancer, singer & a phenominal Flamenco guitarist. She is still a one in a million gem.
@sungchoe43705 жыл бұрын
Charo was, is, a truly wonderful guitar player. I watched her once just come on stage and play classical guitar like Jose Feliciano. After that, and also listening to her when she was serious (some long forgotten interview) and seeing how intelligent and knowing she was I never lost my admiration for her, and saw that her lively, funny persona was her own creation. Here the guys all look like lumps of coal next to her.
@tracylf54092 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that insight. Women, more than men, must create a persona. It gives me a sense of relief that she was acting the character she wanted.

Always a treat to see a clip from before the show moved to Burbank. This episode is from Monday, September 13, 1971. Charo was electric! Also on this show was former boxer Jake LaMotta, Miss America Laurel Lea Schaefer and mentalist Kreskin. Good show. Burt was a very capable guest host. Thanks for posting this gem!

This is rare footage of any episode from the original New York run of The Tonight Show. By early the following year (1972), the show had moved permanently to Burbank. It was written at the time of Johnny Carson's death in 2005 by The New York Post the reason that happened (allegedly) was due to celebrities refusing to come to New York due to the area surrounding Rockerfeller Plaza going through a rapid decline and becoming downright dangerous, largely because of a drug trade that had exploded by the early '70s that was blamed in large part for crime rising sharply through the late 1960's and early '70s (and growing up in New York in the 1970's and early '80s, I do remember that area being very seedy back then with many stores having perpetual "going out of business" sales back then).
