To the people whining about the brand name, etc., do some research. Just because a board is Burton, Forum, NS, etc. doesn't mean it's a good/bad board. The way each board is constructed does. I've ridden Burton, Rome, K2, Ride, Lib Tech, Capita, NS and Arbor and they all have their pros and cons. All the brand means is who the profits go to. Take care of your equipment and it'll last you a life time!

After five seasons of riding, I finally came over to the dark side and went with Burton gear. Hero and a Fish along with un..inc bindings (long live the pig!). Anyway, this is the first time I heard about the 'gummy' material. Nifty.

Aaaannddd that board snapping at the end is why you buy a quality USA made board with a tough base, like Never Summer, Lib Tech, or GNU. Never Summer would also replace that board for 3 years with no questions asked. It's a lot tougher than any Burton, which is actually made in China, not Vermont like this video implies.

Too bad the extremely overpriced Burtons that most people ride aren't even made in the US at all. They're all made in China. Prototypes and custom models for pro riders might be made here, but unless you're paying a ton of money you're getting a Chinese Burton that's not even a very good board. People just buy for the name and don't realize that you can get a 10 times better board from Never Summer or even Lib Tech or GNU that's actually made in the USA with much better quality products and tech that actually matters Never Summer and a couple others have the toughest bases out there and will last you YEARS, unlike the average Burton that costs just as much (yet is made in China??) and will only last two or three seasons, if it even lasts one. They're huge gambles. I think about 40 percent of Burtons have issues of some kind. They make great Bindings, Boots, and outer ware, but not boards. And for those all of those saying they prefer Forum, I'm pretty sure Forum is made by Burton anyway. I kinda hate to say this because I grew up with Burton, Forum, and Ride being the shit, but as much as Burton and it's sub-brands have pioneered the sport, you can get a far better board from Never Summer and some of the others. There's a reason Never Summer beat Burton based on votes from fans in Snowboardermag's Battle of The Brands 2013, despite being a tiny company compared to Burton. People are catching on... I can't believe Burton charges so much for a Custom that's made in China when you can get a completely hand made in Colorado board for the same price and get so much more life out of it with features and tech that actually matter and result in a much better ride. I do love my Burton Cartel 13 bindings on my Never Summer SL with Burton Imperial boots, though :) They also make great outer ware, but I tend to go for 686 nine times out of ten.

My uncle bought a cheap burton snowboard nearly 20 years ago and he hasn't had to replace it yet. We were in Colorado this year on a snowboarding trip when he found out that the edges on his board would soon start to unravel when looking into getting his board waxed. Of course he was saddened by this, but he's taken it around the world with him. So the moral of the story is that not all burton boards are built cheap ( I know you never said that they are all crap) and can last for a couple decades if you're careful and care about your board.
@draggboy8 жыл бұрын
+Jayfeather Hatake Definitely, they're not all crap. But his board was probably built in America by hand at a time when burton was revolutionizing snowboarding. Now they've used their reputation to sell way overpriced boards that mass produced and just not very good unless you spend way more than what it costs to get a really good board made in North America. I'm not an expert but I think what you get for $500 from Burton these days is made in Asia and mass produced, and you can get a much better board made in Canada or USA from a brand like Never Summer that's mostly made by hand from better materials, for about the same price.

Burton actually utalizes three production facilities. One in China for their low end boards, One in Austria for their mid range and Craigs is their flagship factory in Vermont.

Why dont they have a video of their chinese plant? Most of their boards are made there. From this video, one would think Burton is an all American small shop company. Burton is a typical example of how greed for profit trumps pride of craftsmanship and patriotism. I will never ride a Burton board or any other company that manufactures their product in third world countries. Never Summer, GNU, Lib Tech, Unity, and Venture are all great boards if not better than Burton and made in the USA!
