I've known Burton since he used to have a school in Long Beach on Pacific Avenue with June Castro 35 years ago [ has it been THAT long? Lol ]. He's one of the most genuine, amazing, sincere, humble, intelligent, TRULY DEDICATED practitioners of the arts I've ever seen. How is this video not raking in millions of views? This is a reflection of the sad state of affairs of most people who equate and conflate self defense with the UFC and the arts with combat sports.

Burton is amazing. I had just started training with Egan when he and Burton were training. I remember Burton doing some sticky hand stuff that looked like magic to me. I look back and the people that I've been honored to meet through BJJ and it's just incredible. Thank you for this podcast.

I always wanted to train with him but have not had the opportunity to do so. I had an opportunity to do training seminars with Paul Vunak and Dan Inosanto during my years involved in the JKD Concepts Training. I heard SO many wonderful things about Burton, though. When I trained briefly with Danny Huybrechts in Pentjak Silat Bukti Negara in Los Angeles, all of the old school Paul De Thouars Silat students had mad respect for him. He's a bit of a legend in the martial arts community.

Burt was my training partner at the JKD Great Smokey Mountains Camp 1988, 1989. I thought he was the most talented practitioner back then. Now, he is exponentially much better!

I didn't know that Sifu/Guro/Guru/Professor Burton Richardson had double - majored in Biology and Creative Writing. No wonder he's such a great instructor! He carries that scientific, analytical mindset and the ability to transmit that knowledge verbally to his students and applies it!

Burt offerings were always the first thing I would read, every time I picked up an issue of Inside Kung Fu. Amazing person.

Is it just me, or is Burton Richardson starting to look like Bill Nye The Science Guy? Sorry Sifu Richardson. Respect!

I would like to add, outside of myself being an Instructor by both Guro Dan Inosanto and Sifu Larry, I grew up and worked Security in bars all over the city, and now out here in Palm Springs, CA where I live. I am almost Burton’s age. Years ago it might not have been likely for someone to pull a knife or gun, nowadays it’s really likely. All these kids carry out here.
