I’ve had my V2 for a year and a half also and you’re spot on. I’ve had every one of these issues as well, except the battery one. The bike takes a while to start every blue moon but that’s the worst of it. But ultimately like you said I love this bike. The amount of pops and cracks you get even with the stock exhaust never gets old.

Great video, thanks! Trouble with Akrapovic is they started with a monopoly on aftermarket exhausts. Now in Europe Arrow has a slip-on that is half the price of the Akra. Still waiting for Termignoni to release something, hopefully a full system. They've been slow to get one to market. For the heat, I've heard that installing a heat shield and adding the comfort seat helps (the company that sells the heat shield also has a solution to the throttle play). In hot weather also try wearing FIA-approved flame/hear resistant leggings (Sparco Nomex, Alpinestars Zx Evo) which are designed for motorsport and do a great job preventing heat rash and major hot spots, of course worn underneath leathers or riding jeans. For the battery, I always swap with Lithium (LiFePo4), assuming no extreme cold conditions. Lithium cranking power is much better than lead acid and discharge is much slower, plus they save a few pounds in weight too.

Beautiful V2. I was so close to buying this but after riding one for an hour, i recognized that my style of riding wouldn't always be conducive for this bike (I love sportbikes, but I also do some touring up in the mountains of Carolina and Tennessee). The heat was what swayed me as I live in Florida and I needed something that ran cooler, so I opted for a CBR1000rr SP1 instead. Still, it's a beautiful bike (I would have gotten it in white; It's still on the docket for me, i just need more space for a second bike).

Great video. My wife just picked up a V2 3 months back. The heat is the number one issue; maybe less with an aftermarket exhaust. Number 2 is the battery, this bike is a complete pain to start. Even when on the charger, it can take up to 20 seconds to start. Installing a Lithium battery soon. Subscribing.

I have a 2020 V4S, and have to agree about the heat. I live in Florida, so 2/3 of the year the temp is about 95+. I am just now starting to learn of heat management on the bike. Reducing the downshifting and keeping the bike at lower RPM's. Reducing the amount of downshifting and judicious (word of the day!) use of the clutch when coming to a stop instead of downshifting. This after getting blisters on my inside calf...while wearing jeans and not directly touching anything hot.

Buy the throttle kit to eliminate the slack. The kits are super cheap and work perfectly. All panigales have that issue. As for your wrists, get some skintec tank grips and lock your legs onto that tank and stop using your wrists. But did the real question is, did you put an air filter and then get the flash that opens the evo tune. That’s what really helps open that power up.

Sounds like a a bad batch of batteries Ducati got from their supplier. And since the issue didn’t happen all the time, would be hard for them to know/test ahead of time. Aftermarket parts aren’t really a complaint against the bike. Those are different companies. But Akrapovic stuff, especially in titanium, is always very expensive. It’s 3 times the price for a Ducati because they make and sell much much fewer of them than for an R6 or GSXR1000 or whatever Japanese bike because those bikes sell in quantities like 10 times greater. So when Akrapovic designs an exhaust for a bike, they have to take into account how many they think they will actually sell. Quantities of scale, the more you can sell, the cheaper the product. Think about it, how many Panigale V2’s have you seen on the road over the past year? How many Yamaha R6’s? So when you buy an exotic vehicle that sells in low quantities relative to the competition, everything for it will also be more expensive. In 2019 Ducati sold 50K bikes worldwide (all models in total). Same year Kawasaki sold around 230K.

I think $2500.00 is reasonable for insurance in America, when you consider you have a 10 minute parking lot test at a DMV test center, and you can jump on a 200bhp + bike in US, but you have to be 21 years old to buy alcohol. In UK its a bit less than a third of that cost to insure a V2 with full no claims bonus. But in UK your are a very competent rider when you get on one of these, due to testing standards, and your riding among car drivers that have been tested properly as well, so it cuts the risks for insurance companies considerably. You are right, parts prices are inflated.

I have two Ducati's - a 2022 V2 Bayliss and a 2021 Monster plus. I also have 4 other motorbikes. I live in Ireland for reference. Ducati's are expensive to buy for sure but you don't have to change the exhaust or do all those mods the minute you get it. My stock V2 Bayliss exhaust would wake the dead and the insurance companies over here are not too fond of mods that make a bike faster than stock. All I did to my Monster so far is a radiator guard, an ohlins steering damper and I got a small ducati luggage bag which is mounted to the fuel filler cap. So far I have done nothing to my V2 other than get it serviced. Although I have to get the radiator guards - a must do mod. Once you spread your mods out over a year or two or three it does not work out too expensive - no need to do everything the minute you get it.

I had a 999. The best, easiest motorcycle to ride fast that there ever was. The problem was; way too much heat coming off the engine. I could only ride it for about 45 minutes before it exhausted me. I got lucky. Some guy didn’t understand what he was buying when he bought a Bimota DB 5S. So, I traded the 999 for the Bimota DB5-S, and several thousand dollars. I was so happy to actually be able to ride a bike for what it was intended for. Too much heat from any motorcycle is a joy killer. Manufacturers, keep this joy killing heat in mind when selling us bikes.

“Hate” is a strong word 😢. Bit of advise for those new to Ducati Superbikes. Wear leather riding pants the heat won’t be an issue. If you think the riding position is aggressive on a Panigale ride an older generation 9xx. With the batteries on any of these large V-twins their performance can vary with temperature extremes, too cold or too hot. Change to a gel or lithium battery you won’t have an issue again.

My insurance for the current year for 5 motorbikes which included the two ducati's mentioned below and a 2021 BMW S1000RR m package and a 2021 full sized electric moped (scooter) was €485. All the bikes are on the one policy so I can hop on any bike I wish all year. Insurance in the USA is crazy but my reasoning for that is (correct me if I am wrong) No helmet laws in a lot of states, any 17 year old can get on any bike he wants with no training, Insane health care system and hospital costs etc. Total USA type freedom comes at a cost in both lives and money. I prefer the hyper regulated system we have over here because it keeps costs down for me. I am 64 in case anyone was wondering.

My only "thing I don't like" (hate is a bit too strong a word to describe anything on this beautiful bike) is checking and topping up the coolant. First the viewing screen (the right inside upper corner of the front wheel arch as you sit on the bike) is not very clear and you can barely discern the coolant through it. The max/Min marks are also difficult to see. I had to mark the lines with a dark marker. You can see a vague image but it always leaves me a bit uncertain. So everytime I clean the bike which is frequent I check all the fluids and to check the coolant you have to remove two panels which involves 5 allen screws and two plastic push on clips and getting the second panel off and on requires some patience as it does not simply lift off and the edge of it is tucked under the outer main panel. Then shine a torch through the open top of the coolant bottle and only then is the coolant level clear in the viewing screen. For a bike that gets so hot keeping on top of your coolant level is VIP and I feel many owners will neglect this as it involves too much work.

it is a 1000cc (955cc to be exact), with a price of 1000cc (the 2022 kawazaki zx10r is priced at 20 thousand) and has a little more power than a 600cc (155 hp where as a zx6r has 126 hp and with a remap it reaches 135 140). I don't think the v2 is worth it as long as a new one is above 12 or 13 thousand (I know that won't happen, Ducati won't lower the price). It's much prettier than a Japanese motorcycle, yes, I agree. The single sided swingarm and integrated exhausts look beautiful, but they also have many more problems than a Japanese one

Ducatis run hot, they’re not very comfortable at first. The older ones are even worse with aggressive posture. They’re temperamental and yet, the best bikes around for me. Now, if you’re new to one, you’ll learn to love it or move on. BMW is very reliable and crazy fast. If you’ve driven old Ferraris, they’re a pain in the ass too. Buy a used bike that has all the mods. Also don’t buy parts from thr dealer. You could have gone the SC project route. Akro is a house hold name now and they’re overpriced
