Really enjoyed this review. I suspect many riders are debating the V4 and V2, rather than the V2 and some other brand, so this is very helpful. The more I learn about the V2, the more I think it is a better choice for the vast majority of riders. My 1299 is somewhat intimidating to ride as you know how much power you have at your wrist and and total overkill on the road. I expect the V4 to be even more of the same. But the V2 with its agility from the 180 rear tire and 140-ish rwhp would be more than enough for the riding I do.

I’ve put 3000km+ on my V2 (including a few track days) and concur with almost everything in this review! The one exception for me is that the suspension out of the box is quite hard for road use. I’ve been looking for someone in Dublin to help me reconfigure it but no joy so far.
@DrVulpine2 жыл бұрын
Have the Showa front/Sachs rear on my 899 Panigale and the suspension is very harsh on rough roads at the rear and hard to configure the front. Pick up a Panigale V2 with Öhlins suspension, so will be interesting to hop between the two to compare. May upgrade to Öhlins on the 899 Panigale. 😁

Thank you for having one of the best channels on KZbin! I have been subscriber to your channel for seven years and the way that you do your reviews your products your shop work is some of the best that I have seen on KZbin! Well done! I’ve lived in England for 23 years but I live north of Austin Texas now and at the moment I ride a HD wide glide and I do love it but, like you I’m getting close to 50 and I have never had a sports bike before and I would like to have one before I get too old to do it I am currently thinking of the V2 simply because you don’t have to ride it you can just look at it because it’s absolutely gorgeous. The bike I have now I bought it used and had 20,000 miles on it but unfortunately I cannot have two bikes so I would have to get rid of my bike that I currently have now to buy a brand new V2 and it will be my first brand new bike. Just would like to know your thoughts about it and to say thank you for all the work that you do on your channel and I hope you have much success in the future!

@bbguardsp4 жыл бұрын
@@LambChopRides halfway thru video when you got off the bike and showcased it the front forks are clean almost to the bottom. The dirty area at the bottom of your forks is unused travel. However fork bottom out is usually 10-18mm from the bottom depending on bike so you could very well be bottoming out. Ideally you want 2/3 to 3/4 of the forks to be clean on the street.

Another excellent review. It is great to see your channel growing. I know you review new bikes, but, more generally, it would be nice if you could comment a little on the reliability of the manufacturer and the quality of the dealer network. Very few reviewers ever deal with these really important and potentially highly frustrating issues. I am quite interested, for example, in the Indian FTR 1200 S but have some concerns about the long term reliability of the bike. I don't want to make the same mistake that I made with the Tourno, it was a fabulous bike, but I had mechanical/electrical problems within months (engine cutting out, leaking seals etc.) and the dealership was horrible. Incidentally, my V4S has been flawless over the 2 years of ownership.
@LambChopRides4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nigel! Trouble with talking about reliability it's all subjective and hearsay. I cant comment unless I've experienced it personally or know somebody who's had issues. It's a similar thing with dealer support etc. I will comment on that with my long term KTM I've had for the season when I do my final bike review on it as I've direct experience of how its been 👍

I know what you mean about October weather chopsy... it hasn't rained but it's gotten colder real quick. a 20 degree F drop overnight in high temps. It's not bad enough that a simple change in gear won't fix and still be able to enjoy a ride but it's playing hell with my tire pressures every day. I don't have a leak but I like my tires at a certain pressure. otherwise, the ruts or grooves in the roads just make me feel like I don't have as much control as I think I do. by the way, about you mirror clamp mount for your camera. if you get a short bit of thin bungie cord and make a loop with it then use it to help keep retention of the mount to the mirror stem in case it falls off again. i have done similar with mine. a simple yet effective precaution to save money on having to buy another camera because it fell off.

Really nice review chops. After watching vids on the V2, V4S and S1000RR and if budget wasn’t the deciding factor what would be the perfect Sunday bike for the road. I own an 899 which I’ve had for 3 years and absolutely love it. Jury’s still out whether you need the V4 Power but it’s the thought of owning one. You say the S1000 RR Is an awesome road bike but for me it lacks something. It hasn’t got that special Ducati feel when you open the garage door and the buzz you get. I know I need to ride them all but what’s your choice? There could be a V2 Corse next year what could be interesting and maybe worth the wait. I’m 57 going 35 🤣 and can’t give up sports bikes!

I know you said it’s not that bad but for someone that has little experience with a Ducati, and perhaps it mission impossible to do, but how bad is “not too bad”? For context I am thinking of this as my “dream bike” and the rs660 as the “most realistic option bike”. I’ve been able to test ride an rs660 through a very courteous dealer but have not been able to secure a test ride on ANY duc; test rides in the US have always been a bit hard to come by and even more so now in COVID times. Fantastic Duke really good, infact I've not had any KNOX gear which hasn't blown me away on quality and comfort. Handriods are another level though amazing
