I don’t think it’s a cliffhanger. It’s a solid ending of “These two will fight for eternity.” I mean, that’s the entire point of the relationship between Dante and Vergil, fighting in 3, Nelo Angelo in 1, weird that DMC 2 doesn’t exist, and then 4 is Vergil’s son with the Yamato. Then Vergil’s return in V. So while he himself hasn’t been in every game, he’s been a strong, recurring influence just as much as other main characters. And that recurrence for Dante has always resulted in them fighting. But eh, we can always think of the easiest endings that they fight off all the problems in Hell and if they finally reconcile, they have Yamato to get them out.

@@johnbuscher Vergil became a strong character only when he appeared on DMC3 which was quite long ago (he was just a boss on DMC1 and DMC2 was a failure) DMC4 was kind of a success in a sense that it was not a garbage, and introducing new character (Nero) with some clearly laid out backstory and giving importance to side characters was a good thing... And yeah DMC5 is the best thing that have ever happened to the franchise I really do not see why would they release anything anytime soon... They just made the best decision any games company ever made- they listened to the audience, examined it and gave them everything they loved about DMC while tossing everything they hated away... It is quite hard to surpass genius even if that genius is yourself, or maybe especially when that is the case.
