Vergil is quite an interesting character. His father was a demon named Sparda who was the right hand of the demon emperor Mundus, who invaded the human world to conquer and enslave humanity. While his father initially followed orders, in time Sparda grew to love the humans and betrayed demon kind, sealing away the emperor he served and severing the link between the world before protecting humanity for 2000 years, after which he met Eva, a normal human woman he fell in love with and had twins with, the elder Vergil and the younger Dante. By the time the twins were 8 years old, Sparda had died and Mundus sent demons to kill them all. While both brothers survived, Dante was hidden by their mother while Vergil had to fight for his life. In this moment, Vergil became consumed by two thoughts; "why did my mother save Dante over me" not realising she had died searching for him, and "if i had been stronger, she would still be alive." Vergil vowed to gain more power so that no one he cared about would ever suffer again. However, a decade later Vergil had become cold. Being alone and obsessing over power, his goal had become twisted. Now, power was more important than anything or anyone. There was one person he cared about in that time, but he abandoned them without much thought when his search for power pointed him in a different direction. He sees his humanity as weakness, and so he rejects it. When he meets Dante again in DMC3, its only to claim Dante's half of an heirloom from their mother left them, an amulet, so he can claim his fathers power, because in his eyes, it's his birthright. Even though he initially beats Dante, come their final confrontation he loses despite holding his fathers sword, which holds his power, not because he's weaker or doesn't want it more than Dante, but because Dante, who at the start hated and blamed all demons for the death of his mother (in a mirror of Vergil) thus hating his father, himself and Vergil, has grown beyond this childish hatred and accepted his father's legacy to protect mankind. At the end, Vergil falls into hell and refusing Dante's outstretched hand, leaving the younger twin to mourn his bothers death. But unfortunately, Vergil didn't die. Rather, he was found by Mundus, the Emperor his father betrayed and imprisoned, and in his weakened state Vergil isn't just beaten, he's obliterated and humiliated. From there, Mundus brainwashes and enslaves Vergil, making him the demon knight Nelo Angelo, general to the demon that murdered his mother. 10 years later in DMC1, Mundus forces Vergil to battle Dante who, not recognising his brother, kills him an only realising what he's done after Vergil's half of their mothers amulet. Vergil is then trapped in a limbo of death and life. His corpse is used to create an army of demonic knights for a cult worshiping his father until, finally, he manages to get free. But, after decades of enslavement and defeat, he is literally falling apart both in body and mind. So in a desperate attempt to survive, he literally cuts out everything he hates about himself, his weakness, his trauma, his memories of enslavement, and his humanity, into a person leaving him only with power, the desire for more power, and the desire to beat Dante. However, when this personification of everything Vergil hated about himself, who calls himself V, sees what this makes Vergil into, Urizen, he is horrified, disgusted and terrified. Urizen goes to gain the power to kill Dante by slaughtering an entire city, while V does everything in his power to stop it, even asking Dante to help, because as much as V also wants to beat Dante, he doesn't want it like that. Through V, Vergil is able to reconnect with his humanity and, when V and Urizen finally recombine into Vergil, he's no longer the power obsessed monster he once was. He's matured and is able to accept that his mother died trying to save him and that he has something to protect in his newfound son Nero, the result of that one person he cared about all those years ago. This song tells that all. The temptation of power, his rejection of humanity, his isolation, his conflict between his parentage, all of it. That's why this song is perfect for him.

Your read of this is pretty much spot on: The character is Vergil, the son of a powerful demon and a human woman. As a symbol of this legacy he carries the Yamato, his father's sword that is capable of cutting literally anything, even space, which of course combined with his demon powers makes him a "bringer of destruction" as you put it. He is the twin brother of the main protagonist, Dante, and a recurring antagonist in the DMC series, but as you said, he's not necessarily evil. They're more rivals than enemies. The whole "legacy overtaking him" is a part of the plot of Devil May Cry 5: After being defeated in the last game , he saved himself by splitting his human and demon sides using the Yamato. The human side becomes one of the protagonists and the demon side, which lacks all of his human empathy and only has his desire for power, becomes the main antagonist and launches a massive invasion of demons into the human world. At the end of the game, after the demon side is defeated, the human half willingly fuses with it and Vergil is reformed. He then becomes the final boss with Bury The Light as his boss track. After the protagonists fighting him and him realizing he has a son, he walks into the demon horde to fix the problems he's caused. The end credits are him and Dante fighting each other while slaying hordes of invading demons. It's pretty epic.

The best way I can describe this metal track is that when the heavy stuff kicks in, it kicks in hard. However, when the slower parts are playing, it's nothing like jazz or classical, where it's soothing. Instead, it's unsettling and uncomfortable, kinda like with the unsettling parts you find heavy metal music; but it's much more like you're scared of the dark (this song) rather than being scared of a scary thing (other heavy metal tracks)

At 7:00 , the band you mean is probably Periphery. Their song Reptile from the album Hail Stan. Sounds pretty similar, might've been an inspiration.

Not Periphery, but that is a good example too 👍🏻

Very spot on breakdown on the lyrics! A recomendation of mine would be "Run" from Final Fantasy XIII-2: super underrated track that just makes you fall in love with the game.

That's one of my favorite tracks from XIII-2. Gets me pumped up every time I listen to it. The instrument solos are incredible.

I'm a new fan here, but I just want to say, I found you through attack on titan and Made in Abyss. DMC, Doom, and high tier anime are all related. I hope you do more anime in the future. Anyways, I have really enjoyed your video layout for the ones I have watched--nice work! I'm just hoping you broaden your reaction horizons because the musical messages are evolving in several mediums

I dunno if anyone has pointed it out yet, but there are no guitars in this composition, Casey was challenged not to use any but he did a cheeky lil shifty wifty on some bass tracks and overlaid them synths to get that sound.

I would love to see you react to another Bloodborne song. My favorite off the soundtrack is Lady Maria of the astral clock tower. It reflects the horrible deeds she has committed and it’s tone matches the dance like quality of the boss fight.
