Burying Network Cable In Your Lawn

My ‪@nerdlingbirdtopia‬ channel is getting an overhaul! The historically flaky camera in my front yard is getting upgraded to a POE (Power Over Ethernet) model -- but that means running network cables, THROUGH THE WALL OF MY HOUSE.
(My wife was at work, lol!)
It took MUCH longer than anticipated, but in the end, it appears to be a success. Enjoy my misery! :D

I hope that you were using outdoor-rated Ethernet cables. As opposed to indoor Ethernet cables, these have UV and heat-resistant PVC jackets. Even better is direct burial Ethernet cables. In addition to the outdoor PVC jackets, there are options for gel filled, SAP-treated yarn, waterproof tape and others to protect the inner conductors.

Maybe you did it and I didn't see it, but you probably want to put silicone caulk around that box on the outside of the house. Just on the top and sides, to prevent water from getting in, leaving the bottom open, so if any water does get in, is has a place to get out.

I haven’t yet - still had to pull 2 more cables. I did get some silicone to go around the edges, and spray foam to seal up the hole itself.

i still have 4 minutes left in the video so i don't know if you addressed this but in the baffle you may want to water proof that hole. rain may be able to get through and depending on where the top of the hose is, over time will accumulate water and freeze in the winter.

Ive done this for lights. But why not a wireless camera, like Blink or Ring. Also a PTZ camera would be nice.

What bone conduction headset do you have? Do they work well? How is the audio quality?
