As a resident of Illinois who travels to this campus town often, the notion that international students are a problem for getting in is truly laughable. Yes, this an extremely expensive and competitive university, but you aren't competing with international students. They even have a separate living place. You are competing with the other citizens of Illinios and the country as I of U has one of the best engineering programs in our country as well as very very high quality education for all.

I can see where the company is coming from. There's so many black kids in poverty who live BLOCKS away from UIC but have no idea. The university can work on that, rather than getting a bunch of rich foreign kids. My university has a similar thing, where there's more international students than all native POC combined. Then they question why POC are not doing well. It's really sad.

they say there are a lot of chinese students so either they are saying hey chinese students use our bused because it wont be crowded like china. or they are saying hey non chinese students use our buses because there are not a ton of chinese who do not speak english so you wont feel like you are suddenly in china. people should realize they are not saying anything about a race it is more about the nationality. for example. lets say a bunch of rich german kids were coming in and they didn't speak english then the add would be "use our buses you wont feel like you are in germany" that is how i see it anyway.
