I got lake effect snow in Ohio and we got about 16 inches but since it was over the weekend the roads were fine by Monday

@jacobhershberger8643 here in SE Ohio we forget how to plow our roads every year. Places further south got nearly a foot, here on the I-70 corridor we had about 4 inches max but the roads were a disaster. I go to school in suburban Cleveland (Berea, you can pick out the University there) and despite getting more snow than at home (way less than eastern Cuyahoga, Astabula, and Lake Counties), they always get the roads clear really fast. They have it down to a science

Cuyahoga speaking of I live in that county by which we got hammered with the snow over night but when I was going to my 2nd job the only roads I had to worry about were the ones in my neighborhood. As soon as I got out of my development every main road in my city was cleared for the most part

See my job as a bus garage mechanic we have to check all the fluids and everything for our drivers and we also have to cold start all our buses unless it’s 40’ then we don’t have to worry about all that but in the winter we have to be at the garage by 3 am in Ohio to get everything up and running including our maintenance trucks because we park everything at one location now

In like 2014/2015, a 2014 Chevrolet Express MicroBird Girardin minibus I rode had an electric door, when it was cold it would stick half way open and it had to be persuaded to open the rest of the way, I think by using the emergency release.

4:35 it's not the alternator doing that. The intake heater cycles on and off when it's cold and you see it on the volt gauge.

Happy "Birthday"! This video reminds me of my favorite C2 but she is currently parked for a EGR Valve issue, Coolant Leak and Air Leak. She makes those same noises in the cold but the door is just the opposite wants to open but not close in the cold. Have to get out of the seat and give it a helping hand in the super cold.

Our area manager tells us to come an hour early if our drivers drive a C2 to warm them up and since the doors like to act up when it temperatures drop to damn near frigid conditions. C2 activities you know?

I’m gonna start using “freedom” and “common” units from now on 😂 Also a tip from a northern driver: when the bus is cold, don’t put the heaters on full blast and let the water temp build up a little before putting it on full blast. It’s definitely helped my bus heat up faster. Also couldn’t tell from the video but if your bus has a heater pump, I would also wait a little bit before turning it on

On your door issue: Thomas and Freightliner buses have crappy door cylinders for the air doors and the seals come a little loose in the cold. As for your clanky sound it’s just suspension noise all the C2s do it in the cold. The hydraulic fluid in the shock absorbers just need to warm up. And for the alternator it’s just the intake heater cycling. My FS-65 will cycle the glow plugs back on for about 5 minutes after I start it in the cold mornings.

I'm from NY, I've driven 2011 and 2012 C2s. Never had an issue with the service door. However literally just yesterday apparently someone was backing up a C2 with the service door open into a building and the door mechanism tore itself apart. I'm assuming that a previous driver from this video may have unintentionally damaged the door similarly to that. Could be mistaken on my end, I've been on and off with C2s for a few years now. I'd assume the C2 is more reliable compared to the FS-65 due to technology at the time.

Does your district plug the busses in to run block heaters? I wasn't sure since your county services so many schools and has way more busses than us. Up in Missouri at our single K-12 school 16 of our busses are plugged in for block heaters every night, we have 3 drivers that take them home, but I know for sure that at least 2 of those plug them in at home to keep them warm.

By the way so most activity bus 14 passenger bus are district have 3 thomas body they do have electric door but one of the bus door got stuck and have to wait for 1 year 10 months ish and I heard a bunch of other district waiting for electric door parts but most of are activity bus has manual door 😮 I think it 85% mabey there could be glitch in the chip or a little pinch but I never seen a thomas air panel we only have one special needs bus
