its because we use different words. I have a New Zealand accent so im not sure what i say differently lol we have british colonial roots so theres a lot of british words in our daily vocab. For some words we also use the native language Maori instead of english in total. For example the most common is Sweet Potato, In NZ we can Kumara

Thank you for this! I fell in love with the Busan dialect/accent when I was in Busan in 2017. Every time I hear idols speaking in Busan satoori, or hear it in dramas, it brings a smile to my face. Although I felt extremely welcomed by people in all the areas in SK I visited, Busan people were the most welcoming, helpful, and friendly. They have a special place in my heart.

I lived in Busan for 4 years before going to Seoul for 4+ more years. I still say some of these Busan 사투리 expressions automatically in the US in my daily life around others. They are ingrained in me. 하하. I heard most of these things almost daily especially the first two years I was there. Great video DKDKTV! Quite authentic. I also learned a few more things I never knew. And he is dead on about other Koreans asking people from Busan to speak satoori. I am a foreigner and everyone I met in Seoul including professor coworkers asked if I knew any satoori to demonstrate. It is a regular item in the standard question list for meeting others.

This is fascinating to me as an American who speaks no Korean. The "uh-uh-uh" refusal sounds exactly like one of the ways to say "I don't know" here, except that instead of shaking your head when you say it you lift your shoulders instead. But it's the same exact sound, with the 1 3 2 pattern in pitch as well. It's crazy how two things that sound the same mean different things in different languages.

When I went to Korea on a study tour last october, our school visited gimhae and I stayed with my host family in geoje and while I was there, I asked them to teach me some busan satoori! Some of them are the same but they also taught me stuff like; 간지난다, 뭐할라고 and 하지말라켔다이가. I really like Busan satoori though and hope to master it some day haha

I learn busan dialect by watching reply series...so i know some of the dialect speak...i really like how eunji speak her dialect..easy to imitate..

So I’m assuming if we refer this to the U.K., you have the standard well spoken English and then I speak cockney English, so this would be a dialect?

Yea, basically just different accents - like London Cockney, Manc, Liverpudlian, Geordie, the Queen's English, Farmer's English, etc etc... Comparing Seoul and Busan, i'd say it's more like London vs. Cornwall (big city vs countryside)

So for Americans it would be like a New Yorker vs a Jersey accent, or a Deep South state to another? But not as extreme as Minnesota to a Florida accents?
