There's a running theory around the fandom that Jimin writes more formally when addressing the fans to hopefully make his message easier to translate. Jimin's messages and letters are the ones that auto-translate works best with.

@user-yj7mz7mt6z Жыл бұрын
As you can see from Billy's video, Jimin is the one who uses honorifics most routinely and consistently. In Korea, it is said that '예의범절' is important, and the reason for this seems to be explained a lot in his growing up environment. He first studied martial arts such as "Kendo" and "Hapkido" for a long time from a very young age, and even in modern times in Korea, the group that puts the most importance on manners is the people who learn martial arts. And the second is school. Especially, he majored in dance at an art high school. In schools with 'modern dance/ballet major' like Korean art high schools, the rules between seniors and juniors are even more strict. Because of his background, it is a habit for him to keep very strict courtesy to his brothers and seniors. Therefore, his personality is a factor that can be easily adapted even in the military, one of the strictest places in Korea. So I think Jimin will do very well in the army.

I’m Korean and this was such a fun video, thank you! If I may add, at 7:30 jimin says 뭐 하시는거에요? Not 뭐야? I think jimin often enjoys joking by speaking more formally to amp up the dramatic effect as well :) I think Korean Army may have noticed this too, but one of my favourite speech habit of Jimin is when he says ‘그러머는’ and ‘하머는’ instead of ‘그러면’ and ‘하면’. He even spells it as “하‘머’는“ the way he speaks. It’s not quite a Busan dialect so I think it’s just his own little quirk or possibly a family dialect? It’s super adorable :)

When you said Jimin is a perfectionist. You ain't wrong. Jimin himself admitted to being one. I don't necessarily view it as something negative. However, Jimin has this habit of overexerting himself to the point of sacrificing his health. As someone who has been his fan for quite a long time now, I can say he has gradually made it upon himself to love himself more now (his FACE album is an excellent example of his inner thoughts). I am very glad to be his fan since he's an inspiration to me. Someone who is already very talented but amidst all that, he isn't slacking in any way nor form, to the point people call Jimin "The Hardworking Genius".

Thanks again for this analysis. It appears that his speech fits well with his personality which, even though he is an extrovert, appears modest and somewhat self-depreciating. He often seeks affirmation from the other members. According to others he is extremely hardworking and a perfectionist. It also seems that he is often genuinely not aware of how talented he actually is, and he is surprised and grateful for his success.

I've only recently started trying to learn korean, but I've always been interested in how the BTS members talk. I wanted to learn korean both because I want to know what they are saying, but also because I want to know how they are saying it. So thank you for doing these videos, it's exactly what I wanted to know! I know you probably get a ton of recommendations to do videos about, but I was wondering if you have any plans to continue doing videos about BTS even after you have analyzed every member? It would be really fun if you could analyze how they are talking to each other, not just how a specific member talks in general. I've always wanted to know how their speech differs depending on which member they are talking to, so it would be really interesting if you continued doing more videos about them! (Another suggestion is if you could rank the members depending on how much dialect they use, just for fun when you're done with these videos analyzing how they speak.) Love your videos, and I'm looking forward to more!
