here's an explanation for the pregnant part from an army called muish: "I’ve conceived. The watermelon from Moodeung mountain is 20 kg and strong. 8-9th month being the season of watermelon harvest on Moodeung Mtn. Also the 9th month being the end of pregnancy. Harvest/fruition metaphors here. Moodeung mountain is a mountain by Gwangju Metropolitan in Jeolla Province, and they grow special type of watermelon here that are often 20 kg (44 lbs). He is bragging about large harvest of fruits from this region, and comparing this harvest to “__kg and strong”, which is often a phrase used to describe newborn healthy boys. From the first look, he’s an obvious BTS that will make girls cry over them. When healthy good-looking new-born boys are born, neighbours will often say “he’ll grow up to have girls cry over him.” This phrase is also self-praising of BTS. J-Hope really sounds like an old farmer in this song in his tone - appropriately so, since he keeps talking about agriculture."

Same in my country we actually have different languages with English as the main hence pronunciations do differ. We do make fun of each others stereotype but years back we were practically enemies. Some use these stereotypes to shade others.

I’m Chinese and I can relate to the region hostility so much! It’s quite severe over there in China. For example, my parents both came from the same province of 四川 Si-Chuan (known for spicy dishes), but there’s even regional hostility between CITIES, as they all have different dialects even though they’re only a few hours’ drive away! My dad’s home city, 自贡 Zi-Gong, is only 4 hours away from my mom’s home city 巴中 Ba-Zhong, but his city’s dialect is often made fun of (jokingly) by other Si-Chuan cities’ people, because to others, his city’s dialect sounds really funny. All of this is in the same province. If you were to compare between different provinces, oh my, that’s even worse...😂
@GeniTLK5 жыл бұрын
@@CC-jv5ns That's so interesting.. I think there is the same happenstance in my grandparents' country of Colombia. I think it's not strictly separated by provinces, rather by regions and the socioeconomic status people have. There is jokes and insults thrown around by people of different cities because someone sounds uneducated, or like a mountain peasant, or even farmers. This is worsened by the different accents that vary from city to city!
@CC-jv5ns5 жыл бұрын
@GlossJung Yeah, we also have something similar! Some people from the big first-tier cities (Beijing, Shanghai) look down on second and third-tier cities, the second and third-tier cities look down on towns, towns look down on villages, etc.

In my country we have something similar with gagagaga... If I say "Bababa ba?" or "Going down?" the other person says "Bababa" or "Going down"... "Bababa" means to go down while "ba?" would be the question mark. I also think we have an equivalent word for 'geosigi'. In my country it will be the word "ano". We use "ano" to replace a word we forgot or if we find it difficult to describe something. It's useful though since even though we forget the right word, the other person will know what we mean by "ano".

XD Even if im Bisaya, I speak Tagalog to confuse my fellow Kagay-anons so I say "Bababa ba? Mmm bababa". For the "geosigi" , bisaya has "kuan". Ex. Kinsa na si kuan.. Tung tsadag kuan... Ah utok... Ah!! Si Joonie! Trans: Sino yang ano... Yung magaling yung ano... Ahhh utak... AH! Si Joonie!

You are amazing! Thanks for making this series of BTS lyrics explanations for us non-koreans. This is so well-made, especially with all the actual video clips you showed as examples. I'm just thinking about the amount work you did for each video and it amazes me.

It makes me sad the fact that I've been in the fandom for nearly 3 years, and it took me one (1) to figure it out what the songs were about (by searching and seaching, and looking for translations AND explanations...) but now for new armys its so easy to get all this kind of information Wah~ so lucky Anyways, good video. 👍

Though I already knew most meanings in the song (except the eight provinces and the watermelon one 😉) the way you inserted new clips and information made it still very entertaining. The editing must have been immense however the fruits of your labour have really paid off, it was a wonderful video. Thank you David!

I really want to learn satoori....but i don't have the time to learn even the seoul's one. As you asked..in my country..in India.. as you know..there are 29 states.i'm from tamil nadu.TAMIL language is one of the oldest languages in the world.i think it has about atleast 57 dialects which is practiced till now.

this is one of my favorite songs and I love reading analyses of it!! It encompasses things I love about Bangtan: fun sound, distinct personalities, and learning things specific to Korea (whether on purpose or not); what idol group references economic recessions and watermelon babies, huh?? 이 노래 진짜 좋다
