I LOVE your channel. I am new, just found you last week through a video you posted about going through the change early. I just turned 43 20 days ago and I now have gone 19 months with no period. I am so scared and have not been or told my doctor. Your video has helped me. Thank you for opening up and sharing. I now have been binge watching your video's. I think you're amazing and I have cleared my closet out and donated a lot of clothes that clearly are not my age. I own a business that I run from home and need to meet with home builders and apartment building owners a few days a week. I clearly needed to be more professional. Thank you!!!! Amanda from Memphis

I agree with all the tips. And I bet some would have an issue with the “wear makeup” in an era where many believe neutralizing gender is best. I like wearing makeup and always do at work. As you said, even a few small things to just look polished and cared for-send the message that you are conscientious in all aspects. “Effort” is attractive. Be it in your work duties, your appearance, your fitness, your kindness, your relationships,,,when someone sees your sincere “effort” to be your best, that appeals to people. No doubt we’re all works in progress but when we stop working at it......

Very well put, thank you. I agree with the subliminal effect you reference. If someone looks sloppy, you can't help but assume that their work will be sloppy, too.

For the last +25 years I worked in a very conservative corporate environment within the financial industry. I held a VP title and the (unsaid) expectation was to wear a suit. My philosophy is/was if men were wearing suits, then women should be dressing comparable to that in order to be taken seriously and be on par with my fellow male colleagues. If I wore a dress, I made sure it was in a classic style and typically wore a blazer or cardigan with it. I used to get so bored with the same old, same old so to set myself apart I invested in accessories. So, for example, a striped (conservative) blouse with a floral silk scarf (mixing patterns and adding color in small doses). Or, an ivory silk wrap blouse with a few layered pearl necklaces, still tonal in color so not jarring, but a little funky. I consistently received compliments and was often asked to participate in presentations and training because I was told I presented the right image (professional, yet progressive). My point is, you can find ways to personalize your style in fun ways, that will help you stand out amongst your peers, but also setting the standard for good taste and professionalism.⭐️Great tips Erin, I saw a lot of “Glamour Don’ts” over the years who could have benefited from your guidelines and videos.👍🏼

Hi Erin, I loved all your tips. You are on point and it's great to be reminded to step up your game in the workplace. If I may add one thing keep your fingernails neatly groomed (filed, cuticles pushed backed and moisturized and if you have time to polish them in a neutral color even better).

Hi Erin, just discovered your channel earlier this week and have been really enjoying all the tips! So happy to find something that addresses the 40 something working mom that still wants to look hip. I would love a video of best spring/summer accessories on a budget. After watching some of your videos, I'm realizing that adding some accessories on trend would help elevate my outfits and add interest to my basic staples. Thanks!

Loved this! I work at home- totally self-employed and never go into an office. But often when I'm not motivated or I need to get a lot done, I dress professionally to help my mindset. I think it also helps people take me more seriously. Often people think work at home moms are people who don't work much and aren't making much at their business. If I pick up the kids and I'm professionally dressed and someone asks what I do, I think they take my home employment more seriously than when I'm in jeans and a casual shirt.

I love this video. I am a branch manager for one of the affiliates of Dress for Success. We are a non profit organization that provides clothes where resources may be limited or non existant and their attire may be a barrier to their job or career path. As managers (with the affiliate I work with) we also give branding presentations, among others, on how to dress professionally to companies, organizations, schools, and the general public. Your information is definitely on point. Great job! I always share blogs and you tube channels to clients who ask. I will definitely tell them to check out your channel. Thanks for posting this!😊

I love this video as a motivator to get back into my normal office clothing. I'm 51 and 4'11"... I am also old enough to remember when women really couldn't dress like women in a high powered job. Another great video! I have trouble not being taken seriously at work probably because I have long blond hair, I'm svelt and I never walk through the door without heels on. However, I do not need darker flirty eyelashes or highlighter on my cheekbones. Some good quality self-tanning oil on my face and neck, good eye brows and darkening my own natural lip color does it for me. (Aside from presentable jewelry, clean hair and a manicure).

Great video and tips! I love the look of long enough pant hems for professional looks too. I also really have taken a real liking for ankle length trousers as well and think they can look just as professional. Pointed toe pumps are very classy too and I wish I could wear more pointy toe shoes, but they often hurt with my bunions, so I stick to almond toe a lot the older I get and they can look just as professional too. I have been loving block heels too and so glad they are trending since high heels can be too much sometimes. I used to run in them and I don't know how I wore them every day! Great video as always!

Great video. Let’s face it. Most ladies knees are not attractive. I am 5’6” and always keep my hemline at my knee for my law office. Also women with thick ankles should avoid ankle straps. It just draws attention where it shouldn’t go. 💕💕💕
@edennis32025 жыл бұрын
Your comment about knees reminds me how much women are missing by not wearing pantyhose or stockings. Nothing makes a woman's legs more beautiful than stockings, not even makeup. My mother had terrible varicose veins, but even in regular stockings you couldn't tell and her legs looked perfect.

Hey Busbee......what about using white. I'm thinking something like sheath dresses or is black just better to look professional?
@depalmafamily5 жыл бұрын
Totally agree on these tips. I’d say the makeup and hair needs to look like you tried. I work with engineers and I see how much a coat of mascara, concealer and a light gloss can make a difference. Same with hair that isn’t in a mess bun- it can be curly or straight but needs to look intentional. I’d add getting your clothes tailored makes a difference. My style changed when I started capsule dressing with pieces that fit perfectly even if I have less pieces. My other advice is at least at work, if someone compliments your look, just say thank you. You don’t need to tell everyone how you got the item on sale. Yes on cleavage, especially if you’re at a work event with water. Things can’t be unseen, please don’t wear bikinis.

According to recent statistics, 5'4" is the average height for North American Caucasian women. I think the fashion world likes to consider this to be "petite" because the models are so tall. Great tips for dressing professionally and to look taller too, thank you.

Well, as a tall woman (5'10") I often find it hard to find items long enough. It easy to shorten, not so easy to lengthen! The very high-end designers usually cut longer, but not the regular stuff.

Thank you for reiterating that it is OK to be a woman, and to own our femininity. In this "feminist" world, I feel like women try too hard to be overly masculine and have forgotten how to be women. I don't think you have to wear makeup to be a woman. You can be a tomboy and still be a boss. The most important thing is that you feel confident. If you don't feel comfortable with makeup, that discomfort will shine through and undermine your authority. Especially if it's poorly applied makeup. That being said - I think it's equally important for men and women to appear groomed. Good skin care can go a long way.

If you never wear makeup and that is how you feel most comfortable, then great!! But if you do... and a little makes you feel more polished, then you should. A little can go a long way. I’m not talking Fake eyelashes and crazy nails. 😉

Pageant makeup is stage makeup; it's made for wearing on stage where people only see you from a distance. Up close, it's kind of frightening.
