Sounds like the issue with 45 might be electrical in nature, perhaps something in the wiring harness. The crank, no start mentioned, made me think it was a bad sensor. I'm guessing a T444E 7.3L engine and AT545 transmission in 45.

There’s lots of videos on no crank no starts on 7.3s..

The T444E/7.3 Powerstroke diesels have had problems with cam position sensors, which is what might be wrong with 45
