Buses on Adelaide's O-Bahn Busway

In this video we visit Adelaide's famous O-Bahn Busway; a guided busway that almost resembles a railway line. The O-Bahn was built as an alternative to light rail in order to provide a transit corridor for Adelaide's then growing north-eastern suburbs. Stage 1 from Hackney Road to Paradise Interchange opened on the 9th March 1986, while stage 2 to Tea Tree Plaza Interchange (then known as Modbury Interchange) opened on the 20 August 1989.
The busway is around 12km in length and serves three stops at Klemzig, Paradise and Tea Tree Plaza Interchanges. Journey times are around 20 minutes from the city to the terminus at Tea Tree Plaza. On average the O-Bahn carries 31,000 passengers a day; making it Adelaide's busiest transit corridor with buses operating very frequently at speeds up to 90kph.
In the video we see buses at each of the three interchanges, as well as some trackside shots at various places along the busway. Buses seen include Scania K30UB & K280UB rigid buses, as well as Scania K310UA & K360UA articulated buses. Each bus is equipped with guiding wheels linked to the buses' steering system, which allow the bus to safely use the guided busway.

I grew up in Adelaide, I used to travel on the 505 bus from Valley view to Adelaide every day... the o-bahn changed travel for the north eastern suburbs.. i miss it i now live on the gold coast where public transport eg BUSES are shite

I remember one of these buses took a wrong down a little street and broke off one of its guiding wheels

Only changes that have happened at the interchanges since have been the bigger signs that would show the departure times of buses. At Paradise and Tea Tree Plaza there was times they got vandalized and they would be repaired. Not even a month or so later, vandalized again. Fix was to change it to a single screen that showed just the upcoming buses within about 10 minutes instead of by what buses were in what zone. Otherwise there is a feasibility study that they're looking at to stretch the track towards Golden Grove.

Já estive 3 vezes em Adelaide, onde minha filha mora, só andei de tran, os ônibus urbanos são bem melhores dos daqui do Brasil, o assoalho é baixo, fácil das pessoas entrarem, não tem escada, ônibus rodoviário é mais simples do que aqui no Brasil, pq são poucos, em razão da malha ferroviária. Adelaide é tudo de bom, antigamente tinha o circuito de f1 a cidade é toda plaina, com exceção nas montanhas ao redor da cidade.
