The engine sounds so good. Always good when it starts after such a huge amount of work. Well done.

Harbor Freight really took inspiration from Snap-On on that long neck ratchet. The head not only looks like the snappy version but it also sounds exactly the same.

Is that the coolant temperature sending unit at 14:35 in the video that appears to be disconnected from the wire connector? The engine sounds really good. You and Jonathan did a great job on this rebuild, and in overcoming the many challenges of corroded fasteners, cracks, welding repairs, etc. You guys are very skilled and very resourceful in making these repairs that other mechanics would not even consider "going there", and just chucking the part and replacing with new. Kudos to you both!

Thanks for promoting the flashlight, an extremely easy to EDC UV light is exactly what I needed right now.

I have the same Arkfeld PRO only mine is black. Green laser works great to annoy the cat. :) UV works great for finding coolant leaks. Great job on the engine swap!

CRC Thermocure works wonders for cooling system rust. I have a 79 f250 that someone ran water in for years. Flushed with just water many times but couldn't keep the coolant green. One flush with thermocure and I never had the problem again.

Awesome video :) as always. That Davco 382, I had one on a Volvo Autocar dump truck, with a Volvo D12, worked great. Was coolant heated for winter.

Great job guys I’ve learned so much about the old Detroit’s from you guys. I’ve never had the pleasure to work on them. But I’ve done in the past on other engines when the coolant was that bad flush everything out the best you can connect the radiator leave the return hose off fill it with water and just let the engine flush itself out have a very good success doing that in the past. Keep up the great work.

Not tellin u what to do but NALCO for cooling systems dissolves rust in 2. To 3 hours . Start run till temp is normal , drive a bit then drain . Re treat cooling system with antifreeze to make excellent coolant ,break surface tension also , with wetting agent . The complete cooling system is compromised . We use this religiously in locos ,mine equipment, down to cars and trucks . Everything . Here in AZ deserts ability to stay cool is paramount !

Anyone who works for you gets an education that money can’t buy. Learning all the tricks of the trade for a bus mechanic takes a long time unless you work under someone like the bus grease monkey.

Might not be such a great career move. I'm sure the government would ban two stroke diesels from operation today if they thought for a minute they could get away with it.
