I would get AN (and other) reusable fittings from summit racing and hose. Build my own, like I have done for rods and race cars way back. Keeping some hose and a few common fittings with me, just in case. So I can make a hose on the road. Cheaper? Not really, but flexible.

Man I'm getting the fever for an old antique GM bus. I remember seeing the fugitive get off the bus the first of the program and get back on a bus and leave out at the end of the episode. I've always enjoyed the sound of the two-stroke diesels. Used to see quite a few of these pull in to fuel at the truck stops when I went to California and I'd have to go talk to the owner if I could. I really am glad I discovered your channel and really enjoy the videos. Man I've got the hots for one of these. 🇺🇸👍

I was the head hose maker at the Napa store that i used to work at back in the day, it was really something of a stress reliever for me. I once spent a whole day back in the hose room cleaning it up and organizing all of the fittings, it was a complete nightmare. After that? I got on people's cases for not putting things back after pulling them from the drawers and bin's.

Have you considered instead of running idiot lights to the dash (I know you said you weren’t) for the new fuel filter to just install idiot lights next to the fuel filter? I know you’ll have the engine running at times while at the back of the buss. That way occasionally you would see if you had any fuel system problems if the lights were on while servicing in the engine compartment.

Hi Scott, Firstly great videos, I love the 6:71 Detroit's, we run two of them on our old Rail motors, here is a link if you wish to see them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZfIoomffMmAf6c In changing your fuel lines it looks like you have replaced the return line fitting in the head with a new one. I always understood that fitting holds a restriction that provides the fuel pressure internal to the engine. Just checking that your fuel pressure is ok. Keep up the good work. So yeah, that is my question - addl' valves so it'll breather better? More fuel efficiency? More power? More Speed? All of the above? Or none of the above until the turbo is added?
@Patriot1776
@Patriot1776 5 жыл бұрын
@@davidepperson2376 With how diesels are compression ignition, you need more air in order to ignite more fuel, so better breathing allows you to put in larger injectors because there is more air to ignite the larger fuel charge to give you the more power you're after. Turbocharger though really wakes things up as you can guess, as now you can run injectors much, much larger than would be safe otherwise without it, and 4 exhaust valves per cylinder allows it to exhaust all the extra air the turbo's cramming in.

When I worked for the railroad we used to shut the down once per month for maintenance. Since I retired the railroads both GE and EMD have gone from a 30 day maintenance schedule to 90 days and with computerized locomotives today when the locomotive is isolated on the control panel shut themselves down so long as air pressure and engine temperature are maintained to operating norms will restart themselves as necessary to maintain air and temperature. Horsepower is from 1000 to 4500 horsepower. Bot GE and EMD do it the same.

A few q’s which end of the engine is the traditional front and which way does the crankshaft spin? Clockwise or anti clockwise. It looked like you were spinning the engine in the opposite direction when you were priming the fuel system. You mentioned in a previous video that the 4v heads shut the valves later, does this require a different cam shaft or is something else different? The injector timing appears to be from the middle rocker, how do you adjust the injector timing? Is there some sort of adjustment on the camshaft for this?
