@@Bones12x2 yes, I played the hell out of both albums throughout the 90’s. Razor blade Suitcase is - in my opinion, about as good as Sixteen Stone. I think they are both amazing albums that capture a specific place and time in my life.

Nigel Pulsford played lead on this album and Razorblade suitcase. He's an underrated, really unique lead player and his bends, octaves, and dissonant screaming sounds really were critical to these albums hitting man. So damn catchy. The slide guitar on this song, for example. Agree about the production, but that was the style I think and intentional - for better or for worse.
@_bats_
@_bats_ Жыл бұрын
Absolutely agreed. Incredibly underrated guitar player. Not super flashy or technical, and didn't have that sort of nostalgic soulfulness of someone like Mike McCready - but so inventive and so many really cool textures that add an incredible amount to the band's sound. I think Bush in general are a really underrated band. The Nirvana comparisons overshadowed so much of their artistry, which is such a shame.

YES! Comedown! I grew up on this album, I think I was 12 or 13 when it came out. MTV was always on in my house and I saw the video for this track when it was brand new. I immediately went out and bought the CD (or it might have even been a cassette and I got the CD later). To this day, Comedown is still probably my all time favorite track of theirs- Ryan would go absolutely batshit over the "groove" in that track ffs, it's infectious. That said, Sixteen Stone is one of those rare albums that doesn't really have a single bad or skippable track. Machinehead, Glycerine, Little Things...they had so many hits from that one album alone.

That 60 second promotion for up and coming artists is a great idea! Especially when you place there a band that has a similar sound to the band that's in the actual the reaction video. Great way to connect potential fans to a new act that doesn't have a fan base yet. One thing about the change in intensity of the music that you guys are talking about in alternative--and rock in general--is that it allows for a period of building intensity as the listener anticipates that "wall of sound" to follow. The first time or two that you listen to a song you don't sense that anticipation because you don't know what's coming next. But as you become familiarized with the song that anticipation creates such a tension that you're ready to explode along with the music as it launches you to the heavens.

It was outside and literally a Tropical Depression was rolling in, lightning off the beach, pouring down rain. Gavin comes out on stage. Grabs someone's guitar leans in the mic and says, "Where we come it rains everyday so fuk it" and starts playing Machine Head while the rest of the band comes on stage playing someone else's equipment.

'Bad' production is a feature of grunge, not a bug.

Also: if “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” was adapted to film … please let this song be part of the soundtrack 😊
