Absolutely fab video, Paul. Your comments are over the top! After extremely busy and tiring day in field, trouble with all sorts of weird accessibility to inbuilt appliances, you've made me laugh away. Thanks a million!

Great video! I agree about Midea products not being so reliable, especially the LED lightbulbs! On the other hand, we have a Favorit Scirocco vented tumble dryer, built by Merloni, known as Servis in the UK. It still runs, despite being 20 years old. My grandma, has one like it, and the only fault it ever had was a lose contact on the on/off switch.
@How-to-repair11 ай бұрын
Servis like many old manufacturers in the UK were great companies until they started malgamating with the bigger companies than the quality seems to have gone down over the years due to manufactures no longer wanting to build a quality product. They only care about sales levels of new machines. There seems to be no concern about making things last. What makes me Laugh is the way the manufacturers tried to tell us that their environmental friendly by producing eco-wash machines, but they seem to keep quiet about their products, only lasting 5 to 7 years which means that the landfills are piling up with white goods that need to be recycled to produce the material for them to build again which is a total contradiction in what they're saying in there advertising. Planned Obsolescence: The theory of planned obsolescence suggests that manufacturers deliberately design products with shorter lifespans to encourage frequent replacements and boost sales. While not universally proven, some aspects raise concerns: Difficult repairs: Modern appliances may be designed with integrated components or limited access for repairs, making them expensive or impractical to fix, pushing consumers towards buying new ones. Environmental Impact: Shorter lifespans indeed contribute to increased electronic waste, posing a significant environmental challenge. While companies may promote eco-friendly features, the overall impact needs to be considered.

@@How-to-repair I agree! I believe the Eco washes on washing machines, which use low temperatures, are also harmful for the machine, as limescale will build up on the spider, and will not get rinsed off, unless a 90°C cycle is carried out frequently. Moreover, the EU has made Eco design in the programming the top priority, but when it comes to right to repair, it dictates that the drum does not need to be repairable, as long as the whole tub assembly is available for a certain amount of time after sales. There is no pressure on manufacturers to encourage them to make the washing machine more repairable, such as the tub not being sealed.

👍👍👍 Auto mechanics have been fighting with these absurd designs for years. One has to remove the bumper and front of the car to change the oil filter. 😲😢

Really useful video. My bush V7SDW stopped working not long after turning on. It just makes a humming noise but the drum not turning. I thought something may have burnt out as I thought I could smell something. The belt is in fine and will turn with manual help but stops on its own. From watching another video it looks like it might be the capacitor? What do you think or is there anything else I should check first?
@How-to-repair2 ай бұрын
It sounds like it is the capacitor easy job you just need to get access to the motor the capacitor should be next to it make sure you take a picture of the wiring before removing it as remember a capacitor has a feed in and a feed out

Hi there, great video by the way, I have a Logik LVD7W18 tumble that has just stopped working. It is the end program/anti crease light on and when you press start nothing happens other than you hear two beeps. Any ideas at all. I’ve checked the following and these have tested as good, thermal cut out, thermostat and heater element. Many thanks. Jason.

This video is great but I'm not sure how to work out what my problem is. We have a Bush td7cnbcw and it only runs for up to 10 seconds before stopping and flashing an error message. The belt is still on and the drum turns, I can't find a reset button anywhere.

These base design of these dryers the drum, body and filter and possibly the motor are all based on a merloni design i think, used to make the servis dryers here in the UK like the caress and eco care dryers, the one big difference is these cheap dryers do t reverse, whereas the servis dryers used to reverse properly, their drum action was more like a washing machine unlike new dryers that only seem to do one or two rotations on reverse, I had the servis eco care dryer about 25 years ago, one of the best dryers I’ve had and one of the cheapest I’ve ever had

I am being driven mad by one of these, it won't start, it just beeps when you press start. Door switch is ok and I have tried another pcb. It won't respond to the child lock routine either, it beeps but the child lock indicator doesn't light up. Designed by morons these things.

@@How-to-repair I have found the problem, it was that magnetic filter switch. It appears to be part of the front vent assembly. There is a plug going to the PCB that has two yellow wires and two white ones. The white ones are the switch, I snipped the wires and joined them together and it runs. I realised that this was the problem when I read the instructions, it says that it won't run without the filter in place.
