The Fire Cabin is for cold or bad weather. I prefer being outside. So i am making this area next to. The fireplace needed a makeover, a fence from all the twigs and branches that was laying around. The birch sap made to syrup, and i made some pancakes to pour it over. While the sap was over the fire i carved a ladle in a piece of hard oak. And a moveable reflector for when it get cold at night and in the morning.
(ASMR)
Syrup
It took way to long to make it (7 hours), and i was getting very hungry. So i keept looking in the pot, moving it, and i spilled 2/3 of it. :( There wasn't much even before that. ...it tasted very nice, but i will just drink the sap from now on.
Pancakes with beer
250 g (1 cup) of flour
½ tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar - like vanilla sugar
4 dl (1,7 cup) milk
3 eggs
3 tbsp. oil or melted butter / frying margarine
1 dl beer - a regular beer not white beer
Here's how you do it
Mix flour, salt and sugar and whisk together with milk.
Add the eggs. Make sure they are well stirred.
Add oil / butter / margarine and stir again.
Finally, add the beer and stir again.
Let it rest for awhile.
Bake.
(i found it hard to control the heat)
Musen:
My dog eats raw chicken every night. Besides that she has dry food available all day.
Musen (the mouse) is a labradoodle
She is half brown labrador and half black/white toy poodle.

A few things I really enjoyed: first, tossing that burnt pancake away! Hahahaha! I actually laughed. That's something I would do. Second, I don't think I've seen any "bushcrafter" burning long logs before! Growing up here in the Canadian bush of northern Ontario, once we got a fire going in the bush (and we didn't lay down split logs to make a nice neat bed for the fire either) we used the fire to 'cut' the wood for us. It's an old trick (apparently): burn a log in half, and then feed both ends in to the fire. Get two, three or even four long logs poking into the fire, and feed them in as they burn. I don't recall ever seeing it done like that on any of these bushcrafty videos before... "Processing firewood" for a bush fire isn't really a thing in my circles... Certainly no one I know bucks and splits wood in the bush, like neat firewood in some cabin somewhere... at least not around here. Third, the syrup thing was cool - like the idea of using the branch and the bottle. Slick. Amazing how little you actually get from so much sap. Bottom line, I think this channel is bush savvy. 👍

A word on burning a log in half. I have seen this technique on many south-eastern Asian channels. You basically do not waste fuel and keep the flame going. Great video indeed.

What an absolute treat for the weekend, thank you. Spring is looking beautiful. Great pancakes, sorry you spilled your sap, that’s typical when you’re hungry! I’m so sorry for the loss of your father Don. I lost my mum at just 59 & I was 29. I didn’t have a dad. Even as an adult, when you lose your parents you still feel like an orphan & my heart is truly sore for your loss. Your dad is in a much nicer place now than at home afraid & feeling lonely. I hope you can find some comfort, knowing that he doesn’t have to feel that way any longer. My belief is that the soul is endless & although it is an ending in this life, it is never the ending of ones soul. I hope you have family & good friends to support you & please know that my thoughts and love truly are with you. Seeing Musen in her sleeping bag & bed was just adorable 🥰 I know that she is happy just to be near you, she has the ability of showing her love clearly, she’s so gentle & so do you to her. Very lucky. As always, Much love 💕

Ive got to say that you have my respect. Your knowledge is impressive and your not like a lot of other so called bushcraft people that have no idea what there doing and are simply copying what they see others do. Its funny how people that walk on a wooded trail once or twice a week think they know something about bushcraft.

I love birch sap, in Poland it is called "oskoła". Works great after winter weakening of the body. Birch syrup I tried it for the first time in Alaska, and now I make it myself, it is delicious. It is a pity that the birch juice season lasts so short. As usual, a cool movie. Greetings:)

Many of the standing trees are already dead, though the trimmed ones bared of leaves and branches are not neccesarily dead. In colder weather where most trees are bared, it could be a hazard in identifying the trees for wood harvesting purposes.

Gee, the lengths some people go to make breakfast. I hope you're staying a while. No coffee? Me wonders what the dog was stalking and then pounced there behind you at 2:45, while you were sodding a patch in the forest floor. Beautifully shot and edited. Great content, a fine production. Your videos are always nonpareil. Thank you Edit: I posted my comment before your next morning... and yes, you have coffee. Now, that's a perfect summer camp. I hope this means we'll see more of this in the days and weeks to come.

DVG👍👍 Absolutely brilliant camp craft, one of the best bush camps I've seen👌 Great use of waste building the fence, helps with many situations. I also make my camp fire ring/pit elaborate but they work correctly, time well spent. Thought the axe needed sharpened at first, then I noticed the wood was oak, now I know😊 You gotta be one of the hardest working bushcrafters out there, just watching makes me tired😁 Musen is a jewel of a companion, always easy going but right there by your side with a sweet disposition😉 I've been making beer bread at home for a while, some good, some not. Those cakes looked tasty with the Birch syrup😋 Yeah great video work which is exhausting in and of itself I think, well done. Stay safe bro. Enjoy!

Very interesting video ! Although I like the idea of being off the ground to sleep, I would prefer a solid build for a bed. The idea of using log logs rather than chopping wood has been around since Indians roamed the back woods of Canada. Old trappers used the long wood concept. When I was a young boy in Minnesota we knew some trappers that came up with lots of survival skills! Thanks for the video!
