Catch and cook fresh caught duck in bush craft survival challenge.
Use code "WoodBeard" to get 10% off ASAT Camo: www.asatcamo.com
The GOAL of the SURVIVAL CHALLENGE is simple: GAIN or MAINTAIN, body weight eating only WILD FOODS! FULL PLAYLIST: tinyurl.com/yc...
Woodobo SPICE (FOR SALE): tinyurl.com/y7...
Join me and Zach Fowler winner of Season 3 of ALONE on the History Channel. Zach's Playlist: tinyurl.com/yc...
UNLISTED CHANNEL: tinyurl.com/yb...
We weight-in and weigh-out and if we lose any body mass at all, we have FAILED the challenge!
Unlike Naked and Afraid, ALONE, or Survivorman, there is no limit to the tools we are allowed to use on this survival challenge. Living off just WILD foods is harder than you think! If it's legal, it's fair use. Sometime we even do some bushcraft, but the main focus is really on eating wild foods, wild edibles and catching and cooking various foods.
This isn't about just surviving, this is about thriving!
Season 4: Northern Autumn, takes place in Northern Ontario with vast opens seasons including fish, catfish, pike, trout, birds such as grouse, duck, and geese, bear, deer, and moose. Also wild apples, mushrooms, berries, and so much more. We make use of all the resources in this challenge to meet the demands for calories imposed by the human body!
In this episode Zach and I go head-to-head in a cook off to see which is best, dutch oven and "stew" or spit roast. Watch to find out who wins!
Beaver are surprisingly easy to trap and offer a ton of nutrients to the forager. A real staple item! Beaver is also great eating, usually very full of fats crucial to surviving long term in the wild.

*Late upload...busy with the cabin, which is better than editing any day. Hope you enjoy this one as we settle into camp. I had a plan this year for LIVING OFF THE LAND (Wilderness Living), hopefully that's obvious. I guess doing this for the forth time makes this SEEM easy, but it's not, a lot of planning and strategy went into the steady success you see here. You are more than encouraged to try wilderness living for yourself.*

Cooking one thing in another might be more suitable for an oven not spit roast. Maybe put it in a bushmans oven i.e put meat in a hole and cover it with ashes
@TheWoodedBeardsman

@@GawrGurasBathTubPizza That would work well, best idea is to try to keep the moisture inside the meat, which is the hard part with wild cooking. Some foil, wrapping, stuffing and extra fat is ideal. Very tricky with only natural materials (especially more-so in the winter months).

That sick feeling probably came from dehydration your thirst response is much lower in cold weather you must force yourself to drink, dehydration can cause all sorts of misery, nausea, cramps, headache, even fever, good rule to remember is your pee should appear clear rather than yellow, and it should not have any pungent smells.

@@TheWoodedBeardsman I was just thinking the bear fat if u cook it down you could use a small pine branch to spread it onto the deck or bird about every 1/2 or so idk if that would work. thx for the replay and yea I see what u mean if it would even cook. I know u know you can't just put it on a fire with high flames. It just takes a long long time to cook it that way. Anyway have a good guys be safe.

It would help for sure, but a lot is lost in the fire as the fat turns into liquid. The idea of the dutch oven is to keep all of the nutrients. @@1979jokerswild

Those aerial shots were beautiful. I would love to be outside as much as you are, especially in a place like that. It was warm enough where I am to go out in the woods today, but it was also raining heavily. I'm looking forward to seeing how the cabin turns out; hope the colder weather doesn't impede you too much. As always, all the food looked delicious. Cast iron is great to cook with, but I bet there are times when you wish it was a bit lighter. You must be consuming a mountain of calories if lugging all that cookware doesn't work up your appetite. Take care, and I will eagerly await your next video!

That's the question isn't it. Can the human body maintain weight eating meat and fat, and some carbs. The bigger issue, of course, is how do you maintain that level of success in a modern world and whether it's possible for a large number of people, or, and perhaps more importantly, people without (or very few) skills.

I enjoy the content thank you for posting these. Those annoying (to me at least) little left over feathers on the birds can be singed off in a flame pretty easy and scraped before you chuck them in the pot if you prefer pristine birds. I used to use a little propane torch on my birds if I couldn't get stubborn dinky feathers off. Awesome video friends!

Finally got a chance to check in this past week, and believe it was you who spoke about the slowing of views, shares, etc. If I'm wrong or that was an older video, please excuse and disregard... Keep doing what your doing and let your adventurous creative energy speak for itself, as it has and brought you up to this point. Keep being yourself ( In the zone and having fun with it). Don't over focus on the analytics, trends, cycles and such. Things will ebb and flow up and down naturally, often without clear understanding. Don't let it start to consume your energy and take you out of your element. Just continue to be the Wooded Beardsman with reckless abandon, and the longer term trend will remain in an upward trajectory. Been crazy busy and got a lot of vids to catch up on, but will always fall back on, which I'm looking forward to very much! Sometimes, there's simply a lot of your viewers in the same rat race busy circumstance at the same time. Whatever, just keep going. We'll catch up and rendezvous with the pathfinder Beardsman soon enough!
