A very nice setup I’m impressed!What would be nice is that you would make a few of these and sell them on eBay!What would you have to loose!I recently purchased a Kabar hand reel for $18 and a walnut made hand reel for $21 So anyway to me this is a very unique piece of art and I Thank You for sharing the Video👍

I stumbled upon a Exotac xreel that was obviously designed to catch more fishermen than fish and I had a good laugh about it and my first thought was why not make your own. Thank you for demonstrating such an easy and elegant solution. Well done.

The cap on the end is only pushed on. If a big fish suddenly tugged at your line and you lost grip of the reel, all you'd be left with is the cap hanging off of your wrist, whilst the fish will have taken your whole reel?? Maybe attaching a D-ring through the cap and pipe would avoid this from happening. You'd just have to remove the clip each time you want to remove the cap...just a suggestion. Excellent piece of work though!

I believe I would put a thumb screw through that storage cap just for in case I caught a wooper. Would hate to have the hobo fishing reel leave me with just the cap hanging to my wrist.

I put the coupler on the tube and spun it whilst heating it, got kinda toasty with out a glove, going to make one for all the grand babies(12), I used pvc, cheaper. still need to determine the length of the tube and or any reasoning behind it.

I like the way you did this but the main tube what size did you use?

1 inch pipe

I like it . Good video. Did you ever fish with it?
@robinrobbins87555 жыл бұрын
Hi yes I have fish with it and have caught a 2lb catfish with it. It works great
@robertmiller85786 жыл бұрын
Cool but what size tube did you use?
@robinrobbins87556 жыл бұрын
I used one inch Electrical PVC Pipe for the main body of the kit

How much line? I've seen 100ft , I'm using 10lb, I think too much might be asking for trouble? how far can you cast this contraption? And have ya tried painting it, maybe camo? Black. I might just use a magic marker so the kids can id theirs. Thanks for replying.
@robinrobbins87554 жыл бұрын
I used about 30ft as for as casting it will that time to learn just watch some videos on it and painting is up to you but you can paint just the end cap so the kids can ID theirs have fun

'' And there ya go ''
@rickturner27574 жыл бұрын
so whats the length of the tube before cap and spindle?
@robinrobbins87554 жыл бұрын
it about 6 inches or just use your hand to use to find your length I used the gray pipe it is what i had on hand just use your hand and than add for the caps
@cab81882 жыл бұрын
Ok but you put the lanyard on the rear cap. what happens when you drop it? you lose your reel ,equipment and your fish ???
@robinrobbins87552 жыл бұрын
The cap is very tight and hard to get off and the lanyard is around your wrist the whole thing is lightweight
@malcolmsmith92326 жыл бұрын
If the end cap could screw onto the handle, rather than just push on, it would be almost perfect.
@robinrobbins87556 жыл бұрын
I have not had a problem with the push on with a screw on it will be a bet heavier and more fittings and little less of a opening for your fishing tackle but you can do the end the way you want to do it thanks .
@malcolmsmith92326 жыл бұрын
Robin Robbins Fair comment. It was just a thought, keeping things secure, but if you've not had any problems then I guess it's not necessary. Love the flared bit using golf balls. Looks very professional!
@DellaDeLobos6 жыл бұрын
Great set up you have there. I think what Malcolm is saying is what I thought too, If by chance you caught a fish off guard, the cap and lanyard could separate from the rest of the rig. I'm going to make your version with a small lock pin... Thanks for the video
@SurvivalNerd5 жыл бұрын
The cap won't fall off. In fact, if you push it on too tight, you will have great difficulty getting it back off with how tight PVC caps fit on PVC pipe (CPVC is for hot water and isn't needed; PEX pipe isn't a great option either). @robertmiller85786 жыл бұрын
Btw why not put a end on that allows a screw on cap instead of just a push on that way just in case you hook something large it does not pull it out of you hand an leave the cap behind
@robinrobbins87556 жыл бұрын
The kit is use for Camping and Bush-craft and the end cap pushes on tight and the end for a screw cap would be to big and the kit would be heavy. Its for small to med. fish I have landed a 2 lb catfish with it
@bobketterer91194 жыл бұрын
Around answer that may be correct or not. I have never seen the electric (gray) pvc that was threaded end cap because your running wires through it. The white pvc has threatened end caps but it’s thicker and I don’t think it melts (get soft) like the gray stuff does. I guess you can try and mix stuff, if it works make a vid and let us know if it works.
