The Flying Fox is by far the best value axe in this category. I don’t know why but I tend to use it more than my Pack Axe. I even bought a second one. I love them.

I couldn’t agree more with your comment !!! I do the exact same thing, I grab my flying fox more than any other “small axe” I own, I absolutely love my flying fox. I also got a second one, which is why I have the 21” and the 16”. Council tool definitely hit the nail on the head with this flying fox axe. Perfect head weight, handle lengths, features, design, price point !!! It’s perfect !! Thank you again for watching !!

Thank you so much Kevin !!! I agree, your GBA, HB, & Husq. Video helped me out a bunch when I was thinking of getting my first Swedish axe. Fortunately my brother got me that Husqvarna for Christmas 2021, which happened to be the one I wanted out of the 3 from your video !!! Thanks again for watching 👍

Great video! You showed a bunch of axes that I've wanted to see compared for a while. I've been eyeing the 24" woodcraft pack axe but you're starting to sell me on the flying fox with a longer handle. I look forward to seeing how the two compare in use

Thank you so much for watching !!! I’m glad I was able to help 🤙. So yeah the wood craft pack axe 24” is awesome I love mine, but man you CAN NOT beat the the valve of the flying fox !!! Like dude under 60 bucks, hardened pole, 90 degree spine, nice handle, almost a 2lb head. If you really wanted to you buy a flying fox, get a 24” handle and you essentially have a “pack axe” for still less than half the price !!!

Man, I am still catching up on my KZbin Chennel interst so I am just getting to this video now. I agree about the Flying Fox and the feautures on the Council Tool axes in general. The Flying Fox is a must have edge tool. Mine is so clean it looks like it's a trophy piece or something. However it's not clean becasue it doesn't get used and abused becasue it does but I value it so much I clean it up all of the time. It's in a constant state of restoration. Anyhow, I can't say enough how much I appreciate the time you put into and the detail you provided in these videos. Plus, the things you like and value in an axe really suit my own uses for them. Keep up the great work.!

@@waynemiller6945 unfortunately Wayne I did not post or say anything on KZbin about it. Selling off a bunch of axes wasn’t a planned thing, I didn’t want to sell them really. Work got extremely slow and money is getting tighter than it usually is so I had to make some quick bucks and I ended up selling a bunch of axes and quite cheap to move them quick. I have a few left that I’d be willing to part with, what kind of axes are you looking for.

@@940joey2 Really wasn't looking. Just wondering if I'd missed something. I do need a 'Wedge Banger' for use during chainsaw work. I've got a couple possibilities that need rust removal, reconditioning, & new handles that I got from my Father-in-Law that he got from his father. But for conversation purposes... WhatJaGot?

It's also easier to warranty CT than Gransfors usually. It may have changed but the Grans warranty used to be totally null if you bought through Amazon. Grand QC has also gone down hill lately despite record high prices. I've seen heads totally warped and major grain runout 😬 If I paid $200+ to receive those issues I'd flip.

Joey, one question: are those AXES ALL YOURS? Damn, that IS quite a collection of wood and steel!
@940joey2
@940joey2 Жыл бұрын
Hey norm !!! Yes they are all mine with the exception of the 24” pack axe. I borrowed that axe from a friend to show what it looks like directly from council tool because I have a different handle on my pack axe head now. The collection seemed to escalate quickly, around the time of this video I was in the middle of selling off a lot of my axes and narrowing down the collection to just my favorite users 👍

Nice line up I’ve grown to love my Scandinavian forest axe with use. I’ve not had great luck with council tools hangs but handles themselves have been decent. I’m really digging that once in the left background with the polished bevels

Thank you so much for watching !!! I totally agree I love the Scandinavian forest axe, the gransfors axes speak for themselves !! I finally re shaped the palm swell and man I feel like I fell in love with this axe all over again !!! So yeah man you’re not wrong in saying that about CT hangs, I to have had issues with heads coming loose after even the first couple swings. Never had a Swedish axe come loose, but to my that’s not that big of a deal. I don’t mind re hanging a head, yes it’s a little frustrating when you just spent 150 bucks, or even 50 bucks. With that said I have to give them credit because of the quality of the axes and the features they come with are outstanding, so it in a wired way makes it a little better if you can understand what mean. It’s hard to explain lol !! Oh man you’re looking at one of my favorite full size axes that I own, I love chopping with that axe. I actually have some videos on that axe, I take it from a rusty mess to that and do some chopping too!!! That axe is a true temper kelly perfect jersey 👍 thank you so much again for watching !!

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it !! Yeah man it definitely takes some time and there’s times where I’m just like screw it I’ll buy it, but I end up waiting it out a little longer and a deal comes along. The Gransfors small forest axe I got from a local guy brand new for a crazy stupid cheap deal, like I felt bad but he insisted. Long story short the guy gets the axe a present, already has one so he was keeping this a a back up. He knew I was looking for one because we’ve talked axes before. He says hey man I need some work done on my car, so I’m expecting to like do some real work, nope he needed an oil change and something stupid I think a headlight bulb. So he’s like do the work on my car plus 50 bucks and it’s yours …. I’m like I feel bad are you sure hes like yeah man it’s all you, I couldn’t believe it but we shook hands and everything was great, he got his oil changed and 50 bucks and I got a small forest axe. Probably never get deal like that again lol !!

I'm living proof of waiting it out to get the axe you want for the price you want or or free! I was gifted an Arvika for my b-day and it's an oldie one worth 600.00 nowadays...and found another Swedish axe for 10.00 bucks and it's done I made for the wifey and it's been rehandled twice cuz it's the most used axe we have!
