I really like this channel. Wish you could do more. Love the common sense.. also, I have many knives from about 40 yrs of "gathering" them.. only recently I found a morakniv 2000 used in a gun shop for 9.99 and I think it is my all time favorite!!

Man I only recently found your channel, but I really enjoy your content. Exactly the kind of stuff I’m looking for, even if our climates are “slightly” different 😂

Nice , down to earth and logical video. Ralph would be proud seeing you in the Weatherwool. Best outdoor clothing on earth.

Hey dude you have a cool channel, it's cool to see someone doing this that is sharing knowlege from experience and not just show and tell with new gear as is so common on YT. Enjoyed your videos on the ruger scout as well. I mostly have settled on the ubiquitous green and black Mora for my needs. It does anything I need it to for bushcraft or basic hunting tasks and most importantly they're like $15 or whatever. . I have never lost one though I had plenty of knives that cost well over a hundo that got left behind, stolen, dropped in the ocean etc. Paired with something to chop with I've rarely needed much else.

I have carried a good bellied knife made by Buck for over 40 years... as a belt knife... my large carry is an 6"" Ontario knife ''old hickory"" that is from the 1930's was my grand-dad's ... I sharpen these with wet stones I have had since the 70's... there is nothing that i would trade for them... They have field dressed and butchered many deer. Great video thanks

I like what David Canterbury said about batoning knives. It simulates an axe. The knife simulates the axe head and does the cutting. The baton is the axe handle and transmits the energy from your swing. Most people only use batoning for splitting wood. I also cut cross grain for rough carving.

Good stuff. Turns out most of my knives are 4-5" blades and my favorites have long tangs. Thicker for busting through hard wood here in the midwest, thinner for more crafty stuff, at which I'm mediocre. Used to be I liked "big" blades for chopping; these days I bring a folding saw or pruning shears for cutting back brush while scouting. Axes? Love 'em. They just aren't very practical for my hard use, beyond wood lot camping and canoeing. Laying in a supply of wood for a long fire? Yes, the axe would be my first choice. BTW your sharpening kit is great. I always have a DC4 in my kit, no matter what. Thx for the cool content!
