This video is about a trip high in the mountains, I'm finishing building my secret underground dugout cabin with a door with a large window and incredible views!
I have finished building the cabin for the winter because I'm expecting snow storms in the next few days and I don't want to miss that, I want to be there with you in the snow storm!
It was an incredible challenge to build the cabin,
I really enjoyed that!
I hope you enjoy the trip I filmed for you!

A double tier for cooking would've been sweet. Like a nice size rock to be a griddle and an oven and stove top all in one. Good job though. Very impressive

Is someone ever going to build a sizeable live in dugout cabin.... I mean for cripes sakes my Bobcat gets severe closterphobia when I close my office door... I am actually researching building a giant dugout on a piece of land I own. Possible even being able to use the top space. I am contemplating using really thick rubber roofing over galvenized steel structure..

Not to be critical but I would have installed a steel bar for a pothanger in that fireplace.

Cozy? I guess. When I camped out a while back, camped for months at a time, I had two tents and a tarp over my sleeping tent, and dressed up about like you, bushcraftgr. IOW, I was dressed for the very cold, just like you. But I did it without heat in either of my tents. So why, other than esthetics, is that fire necessary? Seems like a lot more work than I put into it, just setting up two tents, putting unleaded gas into my cook stove, and then--voila!--I'm camping! And yes I did get a few inches of snow once, which stayed around for three days, then back to normal camping. My tents and tarp held up just fine. Everything fine in storm later that year with 100 mph winds. I used bungee cords, they stretched but did not break. Of course your set up looks better on YT than mine did all those years ago. But............ and I'm not complaining. It's a great video. I just wonder why if that fire was soooo hot why you never took off even your watchcap. So you're in Alaska and there's no snow, but it's 20 below? Is that the factor I'm missing?? I gave you a thumbs up, and I like the looks of this shelter. It really does look cozy. Edit: I read your bio, and if you are 11,000 feet up there, and you filmed this in November, then I imagine it's very cold!! Good luck, fellow camper.

Souls, when you find the narrow road to heaven / keep walking in it. The devil lurches around, deceiving souls night and day. he+ll love to keep you an ignorant fool. knowing not where you go, who you are, nor why life is. Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Soon the MOTB shall be share to all. It becomes a real choosing between MAMMON AND GOD> Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: And before you take me as a “troll” and “spam”, bother to watch all my 7 playlists, dear soul.

Awesome Kostas!👍👍 One of your best shelters yet, ready for anything and everything. Stonework is incredible, so much muscle and work involved. The inside looks comfortable and cozy, a fireplace, raised bed, stone walls and a sturdy roof..bring on the winter snows. Filming and photography is first rate as usual, well done, thanks for the work bringing me along. See you next time.

I have an over active imagination. Imagine the world is coming to an end, and people are heading to the mountains. They are tired and have been transversing the mountain tops for hours. They know they must find shelter before dark. Then they stumble upon one of your expertly built bunkers, and it is a Godsend! They gather wood build a fire and set out to hunt for something to eat. They have a chance now; more of a chance than others who can’t find shelter. Cooking their catch, they eat and ly down to sleep protected from the cold harsh weather outside. 😊

Kosta my friend, this build is incredible. I've been waiting and wanting to see you build a shelter that would be long term usage. This dugout is perfect. There's one thing I thought you would do, and maybe you are planning to do, is covering the roof with soil so you can keep the heat in even more. I'm very happy seeing you build a dugout that looks like you plan to keep using in the future. Cheers Matt - Toronto, Canada

One of the best, cosiest dugouts I've seen. Kudos. I think I'd have preferred a higher chimney that clears the roof by at least a few inches if not at least a foot, but given both the likely frequency and duration of use of the fireplace, impact of dumping hot air into the side of the roof is probably negligible

This looks like something I would like to build at the top of the hill at my carpenter brothers land that is off the grid where my brothers built a tree house tree house that I helped reinforce with additional vertical columns. Since he did not initially build it with my other brothers above the flood plane of the creek. It floods about every five years and has a large deck wood burning stove but flood clean-up is a lot of work. Every guy that goes there loves it, as there are wild turkeys, bald eagles, but not so much the women as an outhouse no cell coverage some people are not comfortable with. Shoveling mud off the fishing dock sucks but the fishing is great. It's a lot of work to maintain as you get older but the tranquility and isolation is great and you know you have to replenish the firewood you burn which is more work.

Wow, now that's one incredibly built underground / w/ rooftop jutting out of the forrest floor , hee hee, I mean , em, one cool looking dugout cabin! Looks rugged; yet cozy! And (I'll bet) both DRY , & WARM too! Cool man.

Awesome work. I hate that it is going to be temporary. But what isn’t in life? Unless you plan on repairing or replacing the “mortar “ in time. Amazing build and I look forward to seeing more

You would be surprised at how little of that mortar will wash out over time. Check out "wattle and daub" history if you want more information.

@@petert3355 that is true. I am familiar with that. Usually it’s low walls and a long over hanging roof structure to protect the walls from rain erosion. Very good point

@drumtwo4seven if you look at his channel you can see this has been an ongoing project, but it’s cool to just spout BS without even trying to look past a 15 second glance :)
