A pit viper that lays eggs. Gets a couple feet shy of a king cobra and has fangs/venom that can rival a gaboon. Strike range is insane and shear size for a viper is menacing and pretty much unrivaled. Such a cool snake. My favorite is the blackheaded bushmaster.
@Pistolita221
@Pistolita221 9 ай бұрын
It sounds like the venom is I want to say better but I'll go with different. The Bushmaster has neurotoxins, like a cobra, and those individually can kill you, or the cytotoxins which it sounds like are more dangerous than a rattle snake but less dangerous than a Gaboon Viper (individually), but I would argue together their venom is more dangerous, and it's probably a more dangerous snake generally. Strike speed of a rattle snake/pit viper, strike distance of a black mamba, and the venom of both, because why not? And they get the size of a medium sized adult Burmese python, because of course that's necessary. Why WOULDN'T you need venom glands like that when the largest native animal in your environment is a tapir?
@EliteNugz
@EliteNugz 7 ай бұрын
It's venom is far worse than a gaboon. 92% of all confirmed bushmaster bites are fatal and that's with antivenin. Gaboons are deadly but with treatment you got a much better chance of survival.
@EliteNugz
@EliteNugz 7 ай бұрын
@@Pistolita221you're right the bushmaster has far more potent venom than a gaboon. With the gaboon youll most likely survive if you're u get treatment fast. With the bushmaster even if you immediately have access to antivenin and a hospital you have only a 8% chance at survival because 92% of all treated confirmed bites are fatal. Crazy deadly snake. And faster and more accurate strikes than almost any on earth. And their docile behavior will lull you into believing they won't bite you. But they will. And they rarely miss.

Even with antivenom only 8% of the people bitten survive. With rattlesnakes less than 0.1% die. They make spray foam you can use to block off any holes in your house. Easily the most terrifying snake I've ever seen but I fully agree with your assessment: they KNOW they can kill you with ease but decide if you're worth the effort of striking/envenomating/replenishing the venom. Basically the opposite of the Fierce Snake as they seem to not want to deal with anyone and prefer to be shy and hide. Side note: I refound that book, Clint! "You Belong in A Zoo!" by Peter Brazaitis, formerly superintendent of reptiles at the old Bronx Zoo and then was curator of animals at the Central Park Wildlife Center. I once read the account of someone who got bitten in the thumb by one. It was a very young snake and still tiny, relatively speaking,which was probably the saving grace as it couldn't deliver as much venom per bite. The person who was bit had their hand swell to about twice its size and suffered excrutiating, throbbing pain. It took about three weeks until the symptoms fully subsided. So the thought of what an adult snake that's like five times the size could do with a much bigger dose of venom... Not pleasant.
@williambeilfuss8138

Actually younger snakes don't know to properly control how much venom they release so a bite from a young snake is often worse than a bite from an adult.
@davidwilliams377

@@williambeilfuss8138 That’s a myth. Been disproven a bit ago. Baby snakes have full control of their venom. If they didn’t and wasted their venom they wouldn’t be able to hunt, kill, and predigest prey as that’s the purpose of venom. Due to adults’ larger venom yield they are more dangerous.

Chandler doesn't get enough credit for the insane amount of knowledge he has of the animals he keeps. Through all the goofiness and silliness of his personality the guy really does know his stuff.

Clint is so soothing in his tone and mannerisms he can calm down a bushmaster having a bad day. Still not a good idea to handle it, but it stopped striking.

I really love the shape of their heads. I recently discovered Ground Boas (which I'm going to have to check and see if you have a video on them already) and I'm already obsessed! I realize that I like snakes with oddly shaped heads, haha. But anywho, fun video and thank you for the education, as always! XD

I tried breeding captive Bushmasters. I put a mated pair in my Mother in Law's pillow case. Both bit her. I feel so bad--Both snakes convulsed for an hour before they died--Mother in Law didn't notice the bite.

I love the bushmaster. Such a gorgeous animal, and a big boi. It was also my first proper gaming mouse, the Lachesis. That’s something I love about Razer, most of their mice are named after snakes

@@gertruidagertruida3920 they unfortunately killed the Adder as well. They still have a mouse called the DeathAdder but it's not all shaped or weighted like the mouse that we all loved. It's just another flat generic small mouse now that my hand can't fit on.

The ULTIMATE viper. I've seen one in person at the Wilmington Serpentarium, and got to learn a bit about the folklore surrounding them as well. Apparently, the locals to the area the Bushmaster is native to believe that the snake's tail is venomous as well, due to the tail spike. Obviously it's not true, but it's an interesting bit of folklore based on an observation of one of the Bushmaster's physical traits.

these guys along with the ferdelance are native to where i live and pretty much everyone knows not to mess with them, bushmasters in particular have a notorious rep because they're standoffish and will fight before flight in most cases.....fortunately they live in the more remote forested parts of the country so human interaction is at a minimal, it also plays into why we call them bushmaster because in the forest(bush) they're king....kinda like the lion is to africa

Its like having a marine grunt as your neighbor. There is a high probability of death and destruction if provoked. But as long as you feed them a steady diet of meat and cheep beer, they are rather pleasant neighbors.
