Hey Alex, Thanks for sharing this! Nice to see Etihad is upping it's game on the food front :) Beans on a plane, Hrm that's one I avoid due to the gaseous effects lol. Sorry about your shirt/bean mishap. Never fails, there's always one person who has to bolt up/grab all their stuff and to hell with the fact that um were still moving lol wow! I flew on the same route last month but it was A350. Mesmerizing experience. I also had almost same time at their business lounge thanks to their chauffeur service. Etihad never fails to surprise, whether with top notch food or great hospitality by their crew. I remember once the crew shared her vegetarian sandwich with me on Manila-Auh flight since they had limited vegetarian options.

Mumbai and Delhi were the first Indian routes to their A35Ks. I specially chose Etihad to fly to UAE as they operated B78X and A35K to Mumbai during the Dubai expo and Emirates was just operating their 777s. I loved both the aircraft. Thank you Alex for bringing back memories and I really liked your video on EYs B78X to Mumbai. All of your videos are amazing ❤

So what if it was their first? So irrelevant. Those a350-1000s are mainly used for long haul. When they do their round trip (long distance), for the sake of scheduling efficiency, they’ll have a good ten hours to kill before they’re needed to fly long haul. Hence the need to go do the short 3-4 hour journeys on them. Grow up. These aren’t bought for short routes

Hey buddy! Etihad flies a mix of all their aircraft and they vary according to the demand, that’s why my flight was changed. Emirates is a little more consistent as they don’t swap planes. So it all depends! But I love both airlines and I am happy to have such quality around me. thanks for writing and I hope you get to fly them again soon!

What an amazing flight. The new terminal looks great (looked great in the latest mission impossible movie too) and will add to the service quality of etihad. Happy to say that Air India is also moving to the new terminal. Also, the flight which you took will be the first flight to depart from new terminal. Also, nice seeing the aerial shots of dubai. I was in Dubai the previous weekend and really enjoyed my time there.

Nice one again, Alex .. the best dish I ever ate in the sky was on Etihad business class in 2012 , from LHR to AUH .. the catering in the other sectors wasn’t as good back then, but good to see they’ve caught up .. I no longer drink alcohol, but the flight with the best dish also had the best wine I ever had in the sky too.. there’s something about Etihad !!😅😅

Hey there buddy!! You remember well what your best meal was back then! That’s funny as I still remember an incredible meal on my first flight with Emirates ever back in 2007 and I was so amazed that I asked for a 3rd one! Glad you enjoyed your experience! The difference about Etihad is that they’ve never really been huge. It’s easier to keep quality and consistency that way. The problem comes when it grows into a super company. Thanks for writing! 😉

Awesome video. 12:44 How is it that you know that the A350 which you were supposed to fly was that particular aircraft. Seems EY has really lifted their game. The service looks phenomenal, so does the food. Will be flying them late Nov JFK-AUH-KHI. Hopefully experience Term A. As usual a '10' video. Best

I strongly suspect he works for EY. His narration shows a strong knowledge of aviation and operations that, from my aviation experience, says he could be a dispatcher, some other flight operations specialist, or a pilot. The reservation process will show you the type of a/c for that segment (788 or A35K for example), but to know tail numbers for flight segments says he has access to the scheduling database. I’ve noticed that many time.

6:46 it seems Etihad has a tendency of changing planes. I was supposed to be on the (re)inaugural flight to London onboard their A380, but they cancelled and switched dates. I was put on an old outdated B777 :(

Thanks for the video, Alex. When you "see" 5 objects instead of four, then you are in the category of men behaving badly! The quietest gear deployment I have experienced is on the 737-900. I thought we were coming in for a belly landing. My heart was in my mouth! 6 years ago I flew on Ethiopian, several passengers stood up and walked in the aisle, picking their belongings from the overhead bins even before the aircraft vacated the runway. The cabin crew simply looked on and said nothing.

I travelled on the same flight in economy but the 787 was switched to a 320sl even though the flight went really great the food was great and the crew was fabulous as it was Ramadan the crew even handed out small iftar bags to the ppl who where fasting Etihad is really the best,

I guess that if it was empty it’s best on an A320.. Burns less fuel, less CO2 etc.. But less for passengers. I’m glad that the experience continued to be great. Crew are the ones that can make or break it!

Other then Eithad you don’t see other international airlines at the airport while Dubai next door has many options not just Emirates. It will take a Herculean effort to attract internationals to Abu Dhabi and importantly large international airlines and not just low cost like Wizz Air. For now Abu Dhabi will live in Dubai shadows and the airline will be a primary connector between Europe and South Asia.

Dubai attracts far more tourists vs Dubai. Abu Dhabi is mostly business, local or connecting traffic. Dubai is a world on its own. It’s growing and it will continue to become bigger in the international scene!

Having done AUH-JFK round trip on the A35K last year in business, and having flown many, many segments on the 772 & 787, the A35K has a superior biz seat, and a more comfortable a/c overall.

It’s a partnership. Both win. Etihad gets fancy crockery and glasses, Armani gets more exposure. I consider Virgin Europe’s best. LH definitely not, unless its in First Class and BA is good but not as cool as Virgin. Hard to explain, but Virgin has a newer fleet, only widebody planes and great crew.
