I also flew on vistara after their merger with air india while the plane was still painted in the vistara livery and had stickers on it to know it was air India from Mumbai to Delhi last month on the a320neo!

I have observed that Air India has withdrawn vistara's Dreamliner 9 on Bali route and replaced with its own Dreamliner 8. AI2145 now operates on Air India's rundown Dreamliner. The Dreamliner which came from Amritsar must have arrived initially from either Gatwick airport or Birmingham and it returns to Delhi a hub as revenue flight. FYI if their is a flight to India, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai soap opera has to be their in ife. It's a cult classic from mid 2010's. By the way I saw you were watching highway on my plate another near cult status food show from the past featuring childhood friends Rocky Singh and Mayur Sharma.

Vistara was just perfect. My preferred aircraft for flying from Paris to India and would still have considered it over Air France, Air India & Qatar Airways. Vistara - Cheaper than Air India and Air France. Would offer 2 check-in luggage of 23 kgs each like Air India. And they had the most helpful/cheerful staff. And the brand new aircrafts were so clean and well maintained. Was lucky to fly with them just before they formally merged with Air India.

Fantastic video! The demise of Vistara is so sad given that I have so many great memories with them. Literally everyone loved Vistara (... well except for the infamous youtuber J. C.). I hope that Air India will have a great, bright future from now on. Another thing is that these AI and AI2 codes do not seem to be followed properly. The Dubai flights are operated by Vistara 789s but have the code AI while the Bali flight has the AI2 code even though it is operated by those old Air India 788. This is especially annoying when the aircraft type mentioned is A320 (operated by both).

I did Air India A321Neo from Singapore to Delhi and Vice Versa on 14 Dec and 2 Jan Respectively the plane was still in Vistara Livery on both of my flights.

The same situation happened in our country where 101 y.o airline ceased operations just to merge with a new not good airline... It's sad but as I always say "Everything has a story that has a beginning and the end" Never had an opportunity to try Vistara, only caught them as a planespotter Great video again my friend! It’s very hard to fly on a particular aircraft with a specific livery, as planes get destinations swapped on short notice. Plus you can’t predict weeks ahead where it will fly.. So that will be hard! Thanks for writing!

Excellent video, Alex! Flown with Vistara once from SIN-DEL-FRA on business class and it was incredible despite the odds connecting through DEL. Watching your video has made me eager to revisit that Sacher Torte restaurant in Vienna. Quick question: how long does it typically take to repaint a wide-body Air India aircraft into the new livery, assuming all paints and painters are readily available? Do they do it in India or fly into an overseas painting factory to get it done?

The transfer in Delhi can be indeed very weird, I had the same happening to me.. Being escorted and all that. Repainting a plane takes anywhere from a week to two weeks! Very lengthy process, but it is also maintained in the meantime. I don’t know if it’s done in house or not, it depends on the available facilities..

I read last week on Simple Flying that Air India has quietly introduced WiFi on selected international routes on its 350s. I am guessing that they are using the existing installation in Vistara 787s for the same reason. I'm not sure, though, if they will take the quantum leap from no WiFi to FREE WiFi or just testing their system now and will go full Euro style and charge an arm and a leg when the testing phase is over.

Thanks for the video, Alex. How do airlines comply with noise abatement procedures when the thrust increases instead of decreasing, as was the case on this flight? Indian food is always a good bet. Does Vistara fly in with the food from Idia or is the catering provided in Dubai?

The thrust only increases a little, and it’s still less thrust than when it’s taking off very heavy. The A380 does it almost all the time, no big deal there! I think the catering was provided from India. It’s a short flight so they’re mostly return catered.

Hey another excellent video , Vistara Air India merger will be a story good or bad will be in MBA classes years from now - Air India changes are slow and aircrafts orders was mixed between Boeing vs Airbus but the latest 100 aircraft a big lean towards Airbus and regional routes . I hope Vistara branding has an impact on Air India and not the other way around the new TATA management will have to decide as its main rival IndiGo with its business class product will be a big competition for Air India .Air India still flies 2 regional low cost airlines Air Asia with its all Airbus 320 superior seats fleet and Air India Express with Boeing 737-8 aircrafts .

I don’t really follow their situation.. But I can sort of imagine what it’s about. One of them has history of chronic complaining about everything, getting many crew fired or in trouble, so that sort of loses credibility and respect from me. I think that’s currentl on their new A350’s only. The 777’s (starting with VT-ALX+) and the Ex-Delta 777’s still play the old safety video even they have the newer system.

Emotional review, the end of the beautiful vistara brand and aesthetic. Why is crew dimming the windows considered acceptable? I really disliked that the last time I flew vistara. (FRA-DEL) It's one thing to dim all windows but still allow passengers to retain control...but locking them dark? Too much

The demand is much higher than the offer. Simple. India has the second highest population in the world, yet none of the airports are mega sized. Airports and airlines are constrained and need to grow more.
