The decision of the big 3 in Portugal (Benfica, Sporting and Porto) to keep strengthening their scouting network in South America and taking advantage of common language (Portuguese, Spanish) to recruit good young talent on cheap, and sell them on for large fees to sustain their clubs. Ajax followed a similar model for the Nordic countries and had / have a plethora of young talent from these countries on the cheap sold on for considerable profits. There's a ton of vagueness to the rules and a lot more misunderstanding. I genuinely think the call in the United game to disallow Rashford's goal (Everton fan for the record) and Gabriel not giving a pen are correct. Antonio might have handled it but it looked like his hand was on his body anyway so that's up in the air, but Rashford, even if it was accidental, controlled the ball with his hand to score. For Arsenal, the situation was so high speed and at such close range there wasn't time to react, so I think the provision of giving leeway for close range shots into the arm was applied correctly

The truth is the great business decision made by Florentino Pérez was to sell the old facilities in the middle of Madrid (using his political connections). The team was near bankruptcy, and with that sell not only the debt was payed, but was enough money to fund the signing of the Galácticos.
