Having seen the video I am rooting hard for Kagawa san. I think he’s been through a lot of tough times in his life. I like his positive personality and his willingness to share his skills with his Filipino contemporaries. I admire his goal to uplift the standards of the beauty industry in our country. I wish him and his wife good health and the best of luck. May their business grow and prosper.

As usual you have very well thought out content. It's nice to feature younger generation of Japanese who come to the Philippines and find something meaningful to do and earn a living. Yes, sharing and improving skills even in hairdressing allows locals to grow. Do they do men's hair? I don't have much hair now. I wonder what they can do with mine.
@dial11 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! They also accommodate men's hair care. I am sure you will be satisfied with their services! Not only hair-cut but the head spa, head/neck/shoulder massage services are also highly recommended😊

I'm impressed how much he thought and planned this through. Charging high prices and targeting the wealthy to show local filipino stylist that it's possible to have a lucrative career in this job while at the same time being careful not to drive other shops out of business because their customers might end up going to his shop instead if its in the same price range. 👏👏
This video is really interesting. I'm sure Mr. Kagawa will be a great addition to the beauty industry in the Philippines.

That is some quality interview and highly interesting personal story. I appreciate how you helped give highlight to Mr. Kagawa's life journey, whilst he got the opportunity to express achievements and his long term vision, even for the whole community. Hope you both keep well ! Cheers!

I have seen few hair disaster cases on the national TV in the Philippines due to the lack of knowledge on the chemicals being used to color the hair. One of the problem also is that there's no institution that offers Colorist courses or training. I'm glad that Mr. Kagawa is planning to open his own beauty agency.

Thanks for watching the video! As you said, it is unfortunate that damage is caused to the hair due to lack of knowledge and skill. I too hope that the efforts of Mr. Kagawa and his team will bear fruit and spread throughout the Philippines. Thank you!

This bit of information is true. My barber who colors hair on the side told me he once colored the hair of his client and the client had severe allergic reaction to the dye. He had rashes all over. Kagawa san is right, there should be a formal technical school for beauty in our country. Compatibility of products to human skin or hair should be considered. They must be knowledgeable to administer which is good for the customer to avoid allergic reactions or whatever.
I love ❤ hearing inspiring 🙂 stories like this. 🇯🇵

Mr. Kagawa's vision was encouraging and enormous that he thinks also of sharing it to other people. He has a positive attitude and of great know how that he was able to acquired it through school , experience and practice. I love his ideas of perseverance and honing his craft to become perfect. Salute to Mr. Kagawa and Milbon for dedication in sharing your talents and technology, respectively. Salute for the hardworks and life lessons that you have had patiently imparted to your students and co-workers and viewers of this channel. God bless to everyone of us...

when I was in my elementary days my mom used to own a beauty salon it's not just hair but you can also get your nails done, she opens at 6 am to 10pm and the work is non stop but since the prices are cheap she and her staffs are just getting tired with little and had to give up on it after 15 years. I really agree with him when he said that hairstyling is not a dream job in the Philippines, it's a very technical and delicate skill but the pay is low and can hardly survive as a single person.

My Filipino friends likes to cut their hair in a Japanese salon by a Japanese stylist. They don’t care spending higher fee of 750 THB compared to other salon 500 THB but when they started using them they liked it and never changed to other salon since. They feel satisfied with the service. Japanese provides better services and respect to their customer. That’s a unique to Japanese focusing to service quality than money. I hope that’s what Filipino can learn from them not just you wanted to earn a lot of money.

The Filipino people as a whole do not obsess about physical beauty, to the level of East Asian countries. I believe this is the reason why there isn't an established high end beauty salon market in the country. As a Filipino, generally i do not want to see my country to go down this road. I want them to stay a simple people with simple needs. Affluence and decadence degrades the character of a people. This is why the overall feel of the country is warm, friendly with a focus on whats important, which is family and community. This is why among many other reasons you see countries like Japan and Korea who are obsessed with physical beauty have a detached relationship with people around them, neighbors, family, etc. Vanity is not a goal that daily Filipinos hold in high esteem.

I appreciate that you gave me your honest opinion. Thank you!
There is NO effective APPRENTICESHIPS LAW in the Philippines, so mostly the skilled workers you will find are self-learned, trained by neighbor, relative or friend, hence no formal training certification. TESDA provides short courses only. The current apprenticeship law Presidential Decree 442 is set to be amended by Senate Bill 213 submitted in 2016. It will provide INCENTIVES to employers and also lengthen the training programmes up to 2 years.

I am very grateful that the people in the Philippines are accepting our Japanese business. As you mentioned, there are gradually more Japanese-owned businesses in Dumaguete as well. "Izakaya Himawari" "Ichiraku" "Sakura" "Izumo" and "Ajisai" are also managed by Japanese owners. If you haven't been there yet, please try them😊
