Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds tells Sky's Trevor Phillips a £1bn investment by DP World will go ahead, but he had to "have a conversation" with the company after a row over comments made by Transport Secretary Louise Haigh.
Mr Reynolds also refused to comment on why tech billionaire Elon Musk was not invited to the UK investment summit, saying that "not everyone can come", but he will talk to "anyone who wants to invest".

Appointing someone as business secretary who has had very little or no business experience let alone run a business, and then pretends to be an expert in the subject, yeah that makes a lot of sense Mr Starmer.

A head of department doesn't need specific knowledge, they just need to know how to manage people who do have the knowledge. My manager heads up a technical department with very little specific knowledge other than what he's picked up on the job and he does an excellent job of assigning tasks and ensuring they are done on time. Thats what a head of department does

Musk is too political to get involved in these events. He's already picked his political allies and won't work with their opposition so whats the point of inviting him? Also, Musk isn't the richest man in the world, Bernard Arnault is with $223bn compared to Musk's $195bn. Jeff Bezos is looking likely to overtake Musk in the next few months as he's currently less than a billion behind Musk

Whats the point of attracting investment if it doesn't benefit the people of this country? If P&O are upset about regulation which protects workers from fire & re-hire then do we really want them? We already have far more job vacancies than people to fill them so why not strategically target good employers rather than ones who have a history of treating British workers badly?

Musk is a strange bloke. His main business is building electric cars but politically he opposes the side most likely to embrace his products while sucking up to the side that only wants big V8's and fossil fuels. Similarly, NASA is the biggest customer of SpaceX by far yet the side he's chosen wants to slash NASA's budget while his political opponents support space exploration.
