Involving global customers into the art is a tremendous help to ensure the long-term survival of the tradition. If traditions are only regional and new generations don't appreciate them, they have no chance to be passed on and are lost completely. But with modern interpretations or traditional interpretations and a profit this has a better future. I like the idea that simple people who dedicate their lifes to handcraft have a competitive chance in the 21st century.

Theres places in japan too that specialize in pottery production. But its the opposite there. Only men make pottery and teach their sons, the women only dig the clay. Its very cultural. On the other hand im paying money to go to school and study ceramics in Canada, and we have a whole different culture too. Ceramics are an amazing field, especially from the point of view of culture. I dont think ive seen any other artform that has such a huge diversity of tradition and culture vitaly woven into it. You cant have a conversation about ceramics without having tradition be a huge part of it, even if were talking modern artist museum ceramics. The only other similar field that i think has this kind of complicated relationship between objects and art, is weaving and textile production. Unfortunately a lot of people still see this less as "art" though that is slowly changing. But it seems easier for people to accept ceramics as art than textiles as art.

My grandmother in Tunisia who passed away a few years back, refused to sit still at the age of 93, she would go out on her last days and hand pick olives in the heat, no one could stop her, her name was Aicha and she was beautiful inside and out, also had the amazigh face tattoos which added to her majestic aura.

Such style come from Minoan civilization, from the island of Crete. It shows how big spread of culture was even in 3000 BC!

For example, pyramid structures have been found in South America since 100 BC in Amazon forest, also in Egypt, and even China. This can highlight two aspects, one would obviously be cultural exchange through trade. But other could be similar circumstances that followed events which birthed a lot of similar inspiration for art. Mural paintings are also a good point to examine similarities and differences between other cultures.

"Berber" is how the ancient greek used to call the indigenous people of north africa. Greece had colonies in libya and relations to many amazigh tribes in the region, so it is very likely both cultures influenced eachother.
