Busking in Oxford (Better than Cambridge?!)

Once again, an entertaining video. Your acceptance of your feelings is refreshing. As to the results, busking is no science, who knows why one day is excellent and another is meh. On Saturday I did a busk in Lichfieldand got £22.41 in an hour. I stopped at that because I was cold. Lots of smiles and dancing. Better than a while ago when I got six squids for a 2 hour busk. I wonder if people really like their own buskers (?). À forwarding of where you are going would help. I would certainly have come into Brum had I known you were going to be there. Top job, mate.

Thank you Patch - always appreciate the kind words! 😃 sounds like a good time in Lichfield, another place I have on the list of many places to visit for a busk... 🙌 I try to post on the community tabs as to where I am going next to let y'all know but I think the posts get lost in the void sometimes... I’ve heard mixed reviews on Oxford. I imagine if you get it on the right day it’s incredible. A friend of mine recently told me he’s visited a fair few times and loves it… although he did say he think Cambridge is better. 🙌🏻😃

@@AugustRadioProject yeah Oxford is definitely one of those, loads n loads of buskers and a massive music scene (I used to live there) so the public might be overloaded, who knows..?! Great how much you liked Cambridge ..never been so will have to give it a try ...it looks a stunning place!! 🤩🎶

I busked in spot F as my first spot when I went to Oxford last year. There was a busker in Bond Square, and I really didn't make much. I then went to another spot, as the busker occupying it was packing up as I approached. He was packing up because there was one of those horrendously loud singers at the other end of the street, turning a 3 spot street into a no go area for other buskers! Only made £16.72 - very unimpressed but will try again, as there were buskers all over the city on that day and Mr Noisy - less donations to go around I suppose! Wasn't the greatest experience, but hey, sometimes it goes that way!

I think it's very typical of a city busk to have this kind of experience but perhaps it's made more so by how small Oxford's city centre is! 🙌 stoked I didn't have to worry about an Mr Noisy's though... 🤣

I don’t think you caught Oxford on a bad day at all. Come on, you earned over £60! I busked there last May and earned £11.72, which didn’t even cover the cost of parking the van for the day. Busking in Oxford cost me big time. At least you managed to get the spot outside St Michael’s, which I was hoping for. Unfortunately there was a guy living in a doorway in a boarded up shop across the street who’d left his busking gear right where you’d set up. I really hope he’s found somewhere warmer to sleep now. I managed an hour at your first spot and was also drowned out by others setting up nearby. I didn’t feel a friendly vibe there at all and a place has to have at least that if I’m ever going to feel like going back. I shan’t go back to busk in Oxford unless I happen to be going there for some other reason.

Once again Marshlander you've reminded me that I need to be grateful - £60 definitely isn't a bad day out... I appreciate the reminder my friend! Your day sounds interesting and as if there was a similar feel to the air to when I was there. Especially interesting that you were there in May too... perhaps it isn't a winter/summer thing? Or perhaps we both caught Oxford in a strange time 🤔 Who knows? The wonderful mysteries of busking...!😃🙌
