Living the Busking Dream (in Wales! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿)

Man it was an absolute pleasure to meet and hang out with you! I can't express the appreciation enough for what you do on this channel and how much it's helped shape me over the years of being a full time busker too. After only busking a handful of times and seeing the positive impact I could have on others just through my passion, I realised real quick that it was the path I wanted to take in my life. I quit my job, moved to Wales, and made it my everything, to learn, to get better, and live the life that brought smiles to not only me but others around me. A whole heap of this journey is finding out what works for you, but the process can be a daunting when there's not a whole lot of information out there to aid others into this direction in life, other than browsing forums that can sometimes date back years, talking to fellow seasoned buskers, or just winging it. But coming across your channel, hearing all the advice, listening to you talk about your experiences always through a positive lens, and your energy and passion for it, to say you've been an inspiration would downplay it! All the way from when I first started out in my local town, to planning for routes and tours around the UK; I'm hugely grateful for the impact you've had on this journey. @@Itsmedeliciousdee .. Thanks. I couldn't see everything you use, but I saw the " main " things. I'm a pro muso and I want to expand my pedals for busking, but I think of transporting it around, and also when you take grands worth of gear onto the street it sometimes feels risky. With that being said I respect you for your set up and will try to catch some of your videos to see more of what you do..👊🏿

I definitely get that. To make it easier for travel, I converted a flight case by bolting some wheels to the bottom and suitcase handle on it. That’s kept it really well protected for all kinds of travel, and my entire pedalboard is pre-plugged in and ready to go at a moments notice, but rain is also always a big factor to consider of course :( If it’s any consolation, although it’s always a risk bringing around lots of gear, in all my busks around the UK (including lots of Saturday night busks in cities) I’ve yet to run into any trouble at all (touch wood), and do come across a few other buskers in my travels that bring substantial rigs with them too. I think making sure you’re in clear sight of everyone, in an open space, and keeping your stuff close to you helps a lot! Thank you! Appreciate the kind words 😃 as for your question: I began busking in Brighton (UK) which is where I live. I guess the stage presence is something that's just developed over many years of performing, even before I was busking I played and toured in a band for a long time. But to anyone looking to develop more stage presence I'd say that busking is a great way to go about it. It's improved my performing confidence tenfold! 🙌 Thank you again for the comment! 😄

The new Zoom H1n Essential recorder (announced at NAMM and available soon) has 32 bit float. No idea how 32 bit float works (it's weird science and maths), but it means that you don't set the gain and it NEVER overloads or clips. You can go from a whisper to a jet engine in the same recording without setting anything. Then just adjust the level up or down in the DAW or video editor. I'm saving up for the H4 Essential - similar to the H1 Essential, but two more inputs as well as the XY mics. South Wales is awesome - enjoy your tour of the valleys.

Now this is rad!! Other than my gain issues, it actually works quite well as a way of getting reasonable audio from the portable amp! 😃 but I am stoked that they’re figuring out this maths/science trickery to bring us quality audio capture! So rad! 🙌🏻

This is so rad! Stoked to introduce you to the rad world of street music 😃 my advice is to start as soon as you can. Just go out in your local area and give it a try. The hardest busk is your first one. Once you’ve done it once, it gets easier and the best part is - you get better with every time you head out! So many good reasons to busk 😎 I was definitely a little nervous but the beauty of the street is there’s no pressure - everything is up to you!

Awesome content, have you given up on the Mackie? I have one you could SD card or use the Audio Interface direct to phone and you can mount the mixer on your mic stand ( mount included) and plug your phone into it to charge the phone..... I'm new to all of it your an inspiration as a human being and muscian as well... Don't give up on the Mackie, remember you can monitor using head phones for recording volume and mix too.. 6hrs, you didn't play 6hrs in any one setting far as I could tell? Is it hard to plug in to recharge in Europe? For instance during that event surely it could have been plugged in then your ready for 6hrs unplugged? I assume I'm obtuse old man missing something... Carry on young man best of luck on your adventures, appreciate the content and exposure to the culture there.... The ONE thing I wish is that the AI out ( works inward too ) would send out separate wavs per channel but wow is it full featured for real all in one... Also your acoustic sounds SO much more natural than mine thru it.... Thank you....best of luck

Hey! Thank you for the kind words - I really appreciate it. I haven't given up on the Mackie at all. I just took my Samson on my trip to Wales as it was only a day or two after the Mackie Battery went faulty, so I didn't want to risk bringing it. Stoked to say that Mackie sorted me with a replacement battery and since I returned to Wales I've been using it again with no problems whatsoever! 😃 it's such a rad piece of kit. I'm excited to really explore it's true potential through doing some livestreams and just getting to know it more and more with every busk! Thank you again! 😄
