Hey big guy, sorry about the deer season being slow for y'all, I saw about 50 to 75, I killed a small 140lb 6 point but my daughter was able to kill her first buck, killed it with a .260 Remington. Super proud of her she's really took an interest in the outdoors!!

I've really laid off the deer this year as my wife and daughter wants to hunt, my daughter this is her second, first was a big doe with a crossbow last year, my wife is still hopeful. Our season starts second week of September and goes until January 1st.

Great video! We had a great deer season in WV. Even though it was only a couple of days on the weekend like you guys. Work seems to always get in the way. LOL! We will try archery for the rest of Ohio's season. Stay safe and healthy!

Hey Bud. Yeah we have 3 solid weeks here. Because the deer are few and far between. Hard winters, a few wolves and old growth habitat don't help much for growing the herd. Good luck with the bow! Send pics!

Sorry you busted. If I may make a suggestion, next year try tucking your ground blind into a group of trees. It will be less noticeable and you can tie it to the branches for more stability. I was hoping you would have success. I didn't get to go at all this season, stupid cancer treatments. Maybe we will have a harvest in 2022. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Terry. At least you were able to get the pop up blind folded back into the case. Those things seem to have a mind of their own. I’ve spent more time folding them up, than sitting in them some seasons. It looked pretty mild weather wise. They just don’t have any reason to move when it’s like that. No point to sit out all day. Always next year!
@TRERUNSWILD3 жыл бұрын
Right on. Oh trust me it still took me 15 minutes to get that blind circled back up! Glad I'm not the only one that has issues!

Good for the deer, it survived the weekend. Waiting around alone in a cold hunter post/tent, to me appears to be the most boring time ever, but to each his own. I rather be building or fixing something. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2022!!! Take care and be well.

A cheap way to maximize your woodstoves potential is to buy some landscape blocks, of a decent size and stack them around your stove. They add a lot of thermal mass for really cheap right now
@TRERUNSWILD3 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea. I would worry about the weight since its just a shed but I wonder if the back heat panel could be done in that way?
@kurtz2603 жыл бұрын

Just a suggestion, but I would sew on a few tabs to your "door" then a few buttons to the tent and not use the zippers. There are no zipper sounds in nature and that sound really carries in the cold. I also like to leave my stove loaded with a ready to light fire, may help a desperate, stranded hunter and gets an instant hand warmer next trip. Bummer you didn't even get a glimpse but thats a hunters life for sure. Thanks for sharing, love your camp set up
@TRERUNSWILD3 жыл бұрын
This is the first year I used the pop up the whole time. It was nice to get out of the wind. I'll have to look into some mods for next year for sure. plus those zippers were frozen shut. Only a matter of time before the tab breaks off forcing it. Loading the stove would be nice for even my purpose. If the coals are dead when I'm ready to scoot.

I have a weird maybe dumb question I understand that orange camouflage is for safety but why not use orange camouflage on the deer blind itself that way it will prevent a greenhorn from discharging their fire arm into a deer blind thinking the hunter moving inside is a deer.? you have great videos keep them coming
@TRERUNSWILD3 жыл бұрын
Super valid point. If I was on public land I wouldn't even use that blind. I'm on 100 acres of private land. If someone is there that doesn't know I'm there we have big problems. But you are right. It would be a good idea to throw a flag up there at least.

I feel your pain, we saw does, but no bucks. I think it had to do with the moon, run all night and rest in the day time. $ of us walked the public land next to our property and didn't kick up anything. The northern Minnesota deer herd is in tough shape. The deer are very nocturnal and the wolves run rampant. When politics dictate game management the hunters lose. I am getting less and less enthused about deer hunting on public land in this state.
