DISCLAIMER: For privacy reasons, the building's location will not be disclosed. If anyone knows where this is, please DO NOT share it out in the comments or it will be removed immediately. I would highly advise everyone to AVOID COMING INTO THIS BUILDING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE JUST TO FILM THIS ELEVATOR, because this woman I got busted by is very NASTY and she is crazy like a Karen and she’ll harass you in less than 10 mins just to film this thing.
For the elevator: This is a Schindler MT from 1997 and it has an Epic Motor too. But the problem with this elevator is that the buttons were so sticky and this made me think that the Lower Level was locked, but then I pushed it harder and LL is open, which I didn't mean to take a ride constantly going up and down. Those buttons can use a little adjustments there. Decent elevator for a 300A with MT.
Here's the story of how I got Busted: So after I was done filming, I went to use the bathroom next door and after that, I was leaving the building, but as I was leaving, this angry woman stopped me from leaving and started to question me about what I was doing and why was I riding the elevator. I told her what I was doing and explained about it in an honorable way, but unfortunately, the lady was angry about my interest and told me that this place is private property, then she started to force me to delete the elevator video I just made, and I politely told her no, my video is part of my property and I have the right to keep it, and she then told me that she would call the cops on me if I didn't take down the video and said that I have no business here, and then I said ok ok, and that’s why I’m trying to leave, then she started to take things too far. As I was walking to my car, she followed me to the car and got the license plate to tell about it to the cops and I feel like this situation is starting to scare me a little bit and I was afraid of something she did was very ILLEGAL, so then I put in this trick to de-escalate this situation from continuing on, I pretended I deleted the video and then showed her it and simply apologized and then walked away, this lady was still angry about it so I had to simply leave right away before anything worse happens. I honestly feel like, I didn't do very well on handling the situation, but at least I managed to escape from it by pretending that I deleted the video (although the lady doesn't know that) but please note, my phone gave me a 30-day recovery in my deleted backlog. After I simply left the property, I recovered the video and kept the location private once I upload this.
My thoughts about this situation: Out of the many years of being an elevator enthusiast, this bust experience was one of the WORST situations I've ever dealt with. This woman was being nasty about elevator photography and I do NOT appreciate the way she treated me as a photographer in private property. I wish she would just ask me to leave the building and I would've left already instead of her controlling my personal property, but it was the opposite, her treatment was very RUDE and has wasted my time to where I have to go. I understand that she wants the privacy of the building and I respect that the building could have rules of no videotaping, but that doesn’t mean that she can harass me like that and be that unprofessional, and I don't see any sign of it somewhere. And much worse, her getting my car's license plate is a TERRIBLE mistake, getting personal info from me is very ILLEGAL and she could get fired and arrested for that. Well, at least this is a lesson to not film in a building that is super strict about photography and I probably should film somewhere that is more public like a mall, and after all what just happened, I’ll never film at this place ever again. I've seen similarities with other filmers going through this kind of situation before, and honestly, this stuff is so ridiculous with the way people treat us nowadays! I hate how so many people rudely treat us like criminals and seriously for Photography?! This small stuff has nothing to do with crime or any terrorist attack whatsoever. And honestly, if she actually called the cops, I wouldn’t care because I feel like I didn’t do anything wrong at all and the cops would have nothing to do about this. And this woman doesn't even own the property either, I found out that it's owned by someone else other than her, can't say it publicly, but she acted like she owns the property.
Remember, Photography is NOT a Crime! However, in Private Property, Owners do have the right to stop you from taking pictures and ask you to leave. They do NOT need you to take out your camera or delete or take down your videos. And Like I said, DO NOT COME INTO THIS BUILDING EVER TO FILM HERE!

This reminds you of the Otis parking elevators at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. The replacement buttons in them don’t work very well; they have to be pressed hard enough. Those ones used to be Custom Series 1s before they replaced the buttons with Otis Series 4; they didn’t do a very good job doing that.

I would never expect a KAREN to understand the fact that you, along with me and all other enthusiasts in this community, are out filming these elevators to document them. I get so infuriated by the fact that these "people" are treating us like we're criminals or troublemakers. We all know photography is not a crime, but what this Karen decided to do with you was certainly a crime. Either she was being flat-out unprofessional, or she'd gone completely cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. Either way, I know you did nothing wrong at all because I know it's not a crime to film elevators. Sure, some places have it where it's against the rules to do photography, and if that's so, I comply with that. And if an enthusiast in this community is out filming an elevator in a place that doesn't allow photography, all they have to do is simply tell them they can't film in there and at best just give them a verbal warning. But nope, not for that nobody who decided to harass you for it. I bet even if she did call the cops on you for this, they would've just flat-out had her arrested. I've been a fan of this community for 13 going on 14 years and it infuriates me to death when these dirty rotten apples treat us like criminals. Honestly, they're the ones just asking to be criminals. People are just SO freaking toxic and cancerous nowadays that it's impossible to know whether or not you'll run into them regardless of where you are, what state you're in or whatever. This is why I'm very careful with where I go to film elevators. I'm sorry you got your time wasted by some rotten apple who's too cuckoo to understand what you were there for. Did you give her a dose of her own medicine by chance?

I had a very similar experience with a rude manager at Central market in Dallas TX who was a squidward and while he was looking at the surveillance cameras he saw on one of them that I was filming the elevator so he hunted me down as quick as he could and rudely told me to stop filming as their is a no filming policy. I explained what I was doing and I didn’t know they had a no filming policy in place and he said Well We have it POSTED on our door and finally after a few minutes of searching I found it and it was HIDDEN behind some pumpkins and when I explained further into detail I thought he was going to tell me to delete the footage but instead he started to understand after minutes of explaining what I was doing and finally he said that he understood what I was doing and he said I could continue shopping as long as I didn’t take anymore photos or videos on the property or he would have to ask me to leave but I ended up just leaving anyway because I was frustrated. I’ve had someone bust me at quicklotz at Northeast mall but the lady was chill about it and asked me not to ride the elevator as it was employees only but she didn’t have a problem with me filming in the store as long as it wasn’t for TikTok

As far as I’m concerned it sounded like an awful situation and honestly I hate the fact that enthusiasts aren’t getting treated this way over filming a damn elevator!! There are real crimes happening elsewhere every day that are way worse that a small hobby. It’s ridiculous and yes of course they can tell you to leave and to stop recording. They have every right to do so, it just sucks that a lot of people don’t understand hobbies or even people with disabilities too (for those in the elevator community that may be on the spectrum, which still should treated just like any other person)

Enthusiasts and hobbyist photographers/videographers are also not obliged to give their identity to owners, managers, or security guards. Blind obedience to authorities only strips their power and being taken advantage of. I was doing street photography in a shopping mall. And one of the shop's tenant complained to a security guard behind my back. The security guard asked me if I have a "licence" to do photography in their property. As a hobbyist photographer, I don't need a license to do photography. It was my mirrorless camera that looks like a "professional" that stood out. Never brought a tripod nor have flash either. I have many times that I "should" ask permission first. By the time the security guard confronted me, it was time for me to leave. Although I showed him my driver's licence, I still refuse to delete the images. The guard pushed me to the second floor railings and about to detain me until I have to delete that image. I was really upset that even if I stand my rights for keeping the image, they only see me as a person on the "watchlist". While I'm only "documenting" the ordinary moments inside the mall. Don't get me wrong, most shopping centres are marked as private property. Only thing that raise the flag is when I point my camera to people. Fear of being seen on social media or bad mouthing raises the red flag. I have no respect for "obedient boys" & "nice guys" because seeing them "always" being happy or nice means they lied to their true selves. If "nice guys" think that I'm rude to them, that's their issue. Perhaps it would sound like they were not true to themselves and what they are standing for. The younger me was a nice guy who was afraid of offending people and fear of being abandoned. And also have no respect for insecure girls and women asking me if they're "looking fire". The latter needs to find approval elsewhere. If they approve themselves from inside, just maybe would that answer to a said question. My reason for not wanting to do portrait or event "photoshoots" is the very reason why I frame people, close up, the scene becomes "bruised", staged, self-conscious of how they look, or giving an unnatural pose/reaction (and yea, forced eye contact can also come out exaggerated). At times, even asking permission ruins the scene if my day of shoot's North is towards for street-documentary. My sincere apologies if some parts of my comment can sound irrelevant. But I won't apologise for my childish spirit.

The security guard came and I told him calmly I was Filipino the elevator and he said your not allowed to be riding the elevator unless your a guest and I said Ok I did not know and the guard he said you are not allowed to come back and I’m thinking well if you a sign or something to let others known then that would make much better sense. I honestly was very confused because there was also another guard that said you can fill it and he said it was ok. In my opinion that guard that said it’s ok and the other that said no the staff really needs to be more clear cause the guard that said no was very rude to me after I left.

I’m based in the UK so there may or may not be relevance here but here goes. I was a manager for the security team in one of the UKs largest shopping centres so i dealt with this situation all the time. First things first, I’m basing my assumptions that Karen is an employee. If the private property is accessed through simply opening a door and there is no signage or restrictions preventing you from entering it is civil trespass and not criminal. Authorised Employees can ask you to leave and provided you do so, no further action can be taken. You said you left when asked so your good there. Karen asked you to delete the footage. Here in the UK, Karen is a normal member of the public so she has no authority to ask you to delete your images regardless of her position in that company and forcing you to do so can be considered a crime, especially if you were prevented from leaving until you did so. Karen wanted your licence plate, however you didn’t say where you were parked - on their property or a public street. Either way, she is entitled to that plate as long as she obtains it legally which could simply be her taking a picture of it or writing it down if it is visible in plain sight and based on it being a licence plate, I really hope it was clearly visible otherwise that itself would be a crime. Following you to your car would be weird but would be generally be considered legal. You could claim it is a form of harassment but that would be hard to prove if she just simply walked the street with you. Here in the UK, you wouldn’t be able to sue her for her actions as they were not criminal, and neither were yours. I would add one thing though based on my experience and that is what almost everyone gets confused on, and that’s filming in publicly accessible areas and public areas. The main difference is a publicity accessible area is likely to be private property and this is normally clearly signposted on entering the area. Where there is no signage or anything to say, you should still treat it as private property to be safe. You can also tell solely on the fact that most buildings you enter will be private so a little bit of common sense to be used there. When you enter these areas, you should ask before you film as this will tell the staff what your intentions are as they do have a legal right to question your presence and you will either be told to go ahead or no and you would save so time knowing you won’t get questioned or kicked out. A public area is an area such a road, park etc and there is no expectation of privacy here so you can film all you want. Overall, I would say that you knew it was private property and the sensible option would have been to ask. Karen on the other hand could have been better with her approach but I would consider her actions to be reasonable and legal. I know that photography isnt a crime and I agree with that but I also know that a seemly innocent picture can be the difference between life and death so there are two sides to every story. Just go about your activities with consideration for others. We live in a world where everything can now be used against you and people get scared over the word boo but it something you will have to adapt to and live with.

However you did not have to delete the footage in this situation and she did not have the right to try to force you to delete the footage and she did not have the right to stalk you the way she did. Why did she need your license plate number? Totally inappropriate. She thinks she is so entitled. Everyone seems so afraid these days and the reactions Karen did were totally uncalled for.

Everyone please be extra alerted. An unknown person named Karen could easily bust you for filming the elevator in this building, so the description saids that "the building's location will not be disclosed. If anyone knows where this is, please DO NOT share it out in the comments or it will be removed immediately.". So i highly recommended to not share a building's location in the comments, or else it will eventually be deleted by a admin or could be turned off forever. Also, everyone should need to extra advised to literally avoid coming into this private building for filming the elevator as soon as possible right now. You can only enter this building without taking any pictures or videos throughout a camera or gopro. If you break any instructions about this alert, you will get immediately busted by Karen. She is the nastest woman suspect in ever seen this in video. She could busted you out from the building and forces you to delete a picture or video. Then she will search for the liscenes plate and expires it. Or maybe she will call the police to arrest you. Ok. And always remember everyone. The photography is not a crime. i repeat, the photography is not a crime. Please highly advised to keep them in mind sure. 😱😱😱😱
