My late grandma lived in Verwood and often bumped into Buster doing his shopping. She often stopped for a chat with him and said how nice he was. He signed a photograph for me which I still have:-) When he died, she stood outside the church for his funeral, just along the road from this cemetery and saw David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst and other stars arriving.

Thank you for such a good video, which I stumbled upon by accident. However, I am so pleased I did as Buster Merryfield played Cupid between my parents . He and my mother worked in a bank, after he left the army. My father was a regular customer and after a while Buster dropped a hint to my father and the rest was history. . A few years later they were married then I came along followed by my sister and brother. By then my mother had left the bank and the next she saw of Buster was him appearing on OFAH. Buster was in to his amateur dramatics when he worked in the bank and only went pro after retirement. Thanks for the vid - and thank you too Buster...RIP.

Roger is buried in Highgate East cemetery. My husband took the time to find his grave, being a big fan. I'm only 21, and I just recently finished watching only fools and horses, and I loved every single episode of it, I just miss the old stuff all those actors who played their part and I know it's sad that some them ain't here and the ones that are have aged now, times flying and I feel that in todays time things are rough, we don't get that joy and fun as it was 30-40 years ago even 20 years ago now days things and people have changed but not for the good sadly, we will never get such a show back again or those actors and their characters ever, nor we will get those year back, and I remember my grandad used to tell me about these shows but I didn't have a clue than, as im British asain my grandad was the first in my family who came to UK in 1969/70 from Pakistan, and those years were hard for Asians to live in uk due to racism and violence but they lived and worked, luckily he had mix of friends here who were came in uk way before him, now that his not with us rip grandad 1941-2015, now that I've seen quite alot of 70s 80s 90s TV shows and programs it just makes me feel happy and excited to see how those times were.

Cemeteries are fascinating places. The churchyard at Nacton village near Ipswich is where you'll find the grave of a sailor who fought at the Battle of Trafalgar. An unusual incident is reveled in the Akenham Burial Case. Only Fools and Horses fans debate which was the better character, Grandad or Uncle Albert. Uncle Albert was a new presence in Del and Rodney's lives so there was a huge backstory to explore. The transition from Grandad to Uncle Albert in Only Fools.... was handled brilliantly by the writer, John Sullivan.

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying cemeteries. I look around them with my daughter and we both love finding the very old ones. It’s quite sad though because the really old ones are just left alone and severely overgrown and it makes you realise that when you’re gone, eventually you are just forgotten about. Their's a run down Chapel around the corner from where I live,, the new part of the cemetery is looked after alright from the years 80s too present,,, but the old part of the cemetery is very bad the stones are lopsided and it's hard too make out a lot of the dates,, but the dates there are ranging from 1872 up too the 1930s ,,, a lot of the people there died quite young from the ages of 2yrs too 60yrs old,,, the council need too get some respect for these old graves and cut the grass and put some flowers down for them,,me and my wife often put a flower on all the old graves and often we say a prayer for the long forgotten people.
@Guvna072 жыл бұрын
@@mauriceosullivan6832 My daughter does the same. She finds the old graves that are neglected and puts a flower down. The local community should get together and sort the place out and give it a good tidy up. OMG I love walking around cemeteries, not because I'm weird but because when you look at the gravestones from years gone by, I often wonder what life was like way back then. Uncle Albert was an amazing addition to only fools which is one of the best series ever made, and I agree, he made us laugh until our cheeks hurt( the ones on your face ) You know, if you need time alone and peace and quiet, it sounds strange, but a cemetery is the perfect place. Thank you for showing this, I thought I was weird walking around cemeteries however, the history that is packed into these places is second to none, when you see the dates on some of these graves and the peoples names, you kind of go back in time wondering what their lives where like and how different the world is today. Keep searching, and finding those gems.

I met Buster several times in and around Dorset when I was a child. When I was 16 I had lunch with him at the Agricultural College. He was always jolly, ALWAYS dressed impeccably and a true Gentleman.

Great video bud. You are so right it is such a sad shame he’s gone. But what a character he was. And the laughter lives on. R. I. P buster aka uncle Albert 🙏🏻

Of course the show needs no introduction. I remember feeling so sad when grandad passed. But Buster quickly was written in well. I did hear or read that his last job was as a bank manager before joining Only fools.... Thanks for sharing some of his earlier history, great stuff.

My friends wife was a nurse on the ward Buster died in, they were all sworn to secrecy to keep media away, they all respected it too !
