Any chance you can assist me with my 20watt monport fiber? My scaling is way off when it engraves and I can’t figure out which settings are off. The image is stretched out

Without seeing your issue it's really hard to know what is going on. I would highly suggest checking out the Laser Everything channel where he goes over step by step settings on how to set up fiber lasers or the Louisiana Hobby Guy who also has some videos specifically on setting up Monport lasers from scratch.

Hi Buster could this machine be used to cut out the face paper of a self-adhesive printed decal without cutting the backing paper, may be the 3d feature can help control the cut depth?
@BusterBeagle3D11 ай бұрын
I suppose it's possible. It wouldn't really be the 3D function but a lot of testing on finding the correct power and speed to achieve what you want to do. Again not something I have tried but I don't see why not.

I am curious about the heating capability of this 30W fiber laser engraver. Do you know how high the temperature goes up when measuring it with a thermal camera during the engraving process?
@BusterBeagle3D6 ай бұрын
I have never measured it but I can assure you it gets items hot depending on the process you are doing. I have certainly gone in to pick up an item that had finished engraving too early and burned myself.

I'm looking for something that's maybe not as high tech as this, but I'm looking for something that's going to laser engrave aluminum or steel not deep at all just enough to see it basically. What would you suggest
@BusterBeagle3D11 ай бұрын
You can get fiber lasers that are 20W that would be cheaper then something like this. You can also get regular diode lasers with IR laser add on module if you wanted to do other types of objects. However those are not even close to the power and if working with metal and speed are important to you I would go with a 20W fiber. You could also go with something like the xTool F1, I did a video on it on my channel but again if metal is what you want I would go fiber.

Good morning Buster. I just purchased a 100w OMTech MOPA laser. I also bought an acrylic enclosure which i plan on attaching a vent to outdoors. Have you had any issues with material getting on the lens of this machine? Thanks
@BusterBeagle3D6 ай бұрын
Hello. Not really. I mean it doesn’t hurt to give it a wipe with a lens cleaning cloth every now and then but for the most part it stay fairly clean. I suppose it depends on what you’re doing but I don’t touch it that often.

Would you recommend this over the ComMarker 30w fiber laser?
@BusterBeagle3D10 ай бұрын
I have never used the 30W ComMarker so I can't exactly compare the 2 exactly but just personally I do like the single unit form factor over the split tower just from a space saving perspective.

Hi, what is the maximum size, 300*300mm?, what is DDP price for Cincinnati, Ohio?
@BusterBeagle3D4 ай бұрын
Hi. The maximum size depends on the lens and the height of the tower. Both of which can be changed. I’m not sure about current pricing and shipping as I don’t work for the company but feel free to reach out tho them on their website.

Do i need to take some type of class to learn to use Lightburn? Or is it as simple as uploading a photo or typing the words in that i want to engrave?

How are you creating the files for deep engraving?
@BusterBeagle3D Жыл бұрын
Hi. It's a process where I have an 3D model STL file that I then convert into a height map online. I then use that heightmap in Ligthburn as a 3D sliced image in the image mode under Tools>Adjust Image. That will essentially "slice" the image similar to the way as 3D print is sliced, layer by layer. There are a few videos online about using the 3D slicer function in Lightburn on KZbin if you just search for it.

No. Not eye safe however there are enclosures that other companies sell for this type of machine that would make it safe for a maker space. I may look at reviewing one of those in the future.

Hi good morning sir. I have 50W Fiber Laser Marking machine with 220mm lens. Will you share me different metal engraving parameters? Like speed power frequency.
@joergsonnenberger6836 Жыл бұрын
Work area and laser power are not directly related at all. There is some affect on the distance the laser can cover with a certain focus, but that's it. The laser doesn't heat the whole area at the same time after all.
@BusterBeagle3D Жыл бұрын
It's true that the laser power doesn't change but the intensity does at the smaller lens sizes. For the sheer fact that the laser would now be 100mm closer to the workpiece and the pulses now much closer together. The difference would be on aluminum for instance engraving at 550mm/sec at 100% power on the 200mm lens vs 1000mm/sec at 80% power on the 110mm lens.
@joergsonnenberger6836 Жыл бұрын
@@BusterBeagle3D The difference between the lenses is the size of the focal area, isn't it? The distance doesn't matter that much as long as the laser is properly focused, the absorption rate of air is very low.
@ChrisPVille Жыл бұрын
@@joergsonnenberger6836 There's a weird relationship between power and work area. No laser is perfectly collimated and infinitely narrow, so wider lenses increase the spot size and spread the energy out more on the periphery leading to reduced temperatures but over a larger area
@HeirloomGameCalls Жыл бұрын
The angle the laser hits the work causes variarions of temperature at the work piece. Much like the angle of the sunlight hitting your area causes the seaaons to change from warm to cold
@cskovach9 ай бұрын
Laser intensity is correlated to work area, which is roughly the same as localized laser power.
